Transfer Case boom, wrong fluid

My transfer case has been destroyed as of today.
The shop that replaced my clutch used synchromesh in my transfer case. I took it to the dealer and of course it's not covered. The shop is trying to say because I gave them the synchromesh it's not their fault. I told them that if they had to mess with the transfer case or diffs to use some Mobile 1 synthetic gear oil that I had in my garage. No I have to fight with everyone to get this fixed.

I have made a claim with GEICO under my mechanical break-down coverage. Hopefully they will cover it. They have to inspect it first to make sure that the dealer is being honest.

Looks like the shop didn't know what fluids go where. I'm suprise they were able to replace your clutch.

You need to discuss this with their mechanic. They should know.
Also, the shop that did my clutch are experts on DSMs, not Evos. It was an honest mistake and I think they are going to fix it. Most AWD cars use the same fluid in both the transfer case and the tranny.

NE1 know where I can get a good transfer case cheap?

WRXes have their problems too. I just hate that I've seen this post about transfer case problems so often.

WRX's having plenty 'o problems also. So why did you buy a POS?!?! Sounds like you made a really stupid decision for yourself. Perhaps posting on here is another one you're in the midst of. Sell your evo and go home.

Syncromesh should still be able to keep the transfer case a live.

I would try and find a used one, I know I have seen two or 3 wrecked evos on the internet.

It definantly won't be 1600...

Your shop has a fiduciary responsibility to put the right stuff in there, regardless if you handed them the oil or not. They obviously were not qualified to work on your car and are negligent. Just take them to small claims court...
