If you want to track the car, go with an RS and build up. MR is the TUNED package. Not that far off in power compared with a GSR.

Again this is just a generalization.
all that matters is that you OWN an EVO, why is everyone complaining this was a vote not a ***** session...be glad you own an evo most ppl cant afford them...i knew what this car was before most ppl even knew that it existed.
the evo was my dream car 3 years before it came over here...most ppl envy anyone w/ an evo be glad that life has put you into the position to own one

sucks...
But only thing is matters : YOU have to like it!
all though did you ever had another evo before?
Yeah, sticker on the MR SE here was $38,786 and I asked the local (Fresno) dealer to match South Cali pricing and they did.

No, this is my first Evo. Had a Lancer O-Z Rally just before that.

But I LOVE this car!!!

If your going to race it (road or drag) buy an RS! But for the street you cant beat the six speed! there is no comparison! There is a reason it is the top of the line. And now that the IX MR has a leather interior (half alcantara)there is no compromise!

Yes top of the line ,they put every little thing , pluss 6 speed tranny and blistein in it. that is way i sad ,if you going to mild tune or stay factory that would be my choice too.
But ,actually the 6 speed suppos to be better on track ,not on the street.I'm not sure but i think the seats on the 06 are same in the RS to up the MR .Only the SSL has diff. seats./all leather/ and the SE /red stiches/.

The six speed is better for every day driving in my opinion. I had the EVO VIII with the 5 speed and the MR is a better every day car.

Having been a fan of Initial D (damn, I'm wearing the Emperor shirt again lol) the Evo was a dream car of mine for quite a while. I figured I might have to settle for an STi since they were easier to find and cost a lot less in my area, but with a job change a whole new world of possibilities opened up and I was able to get my dream car.

Granted I have an abusive boss, nightmarish schedule, and aches and pains from stress all the time, but hey I'm looking for something else that'll let me afford my baby lol

You're right. IX MR seats are no different from those in the RS/GSR.

I think it's woirth it but after finding out about the 4rth gear breaking I'm starting to debate weather it's even worth it.

Frankly, I don't believe that there is a widespread problem with the 6 speed tranny. Mine works fine and has 32K miles. Sure, there is always a problem here and there and undoubtedly there have been some problems with 6 speed and 5 speed trannies, but I'd guess than most problems have been associated with racing or other hard driving situations. I don't think it's like the infamous wing problem (BTW, I got mine replaced not long ago). In all fairness, my '05 MR has been absolutely trouble free and I've had no issues whatsoever apart from the CF wing......

i have an mr, and i basically changed everything that made it an mr besides the lighter roof. i changed my tranny to a 5-speed shep from an evo8(from quite a few people i heard the 6 speed was weak), changed my wheels to enkeis, and i have an evo9 mr

IMO the MR is not really worth it for someone thinking of modding. SE is the best all around model that is highly chosen. Sure 6 gears on the highway is often better but overall the pros outweigh the cons when it comes to the tranny (ie. one has a sizeable history of weak 4th gears)

SE comes with these goodies:
- HIDS
- 5 speed
- alum. roof
- special red stiched seats
- diamond black BBS wheels (look much better and weigh just slightly less than the MR)

> MR has over SE
-- Bilsteins
-- 6 speed with teflon shift linkage
-- Guages
-- Shift knob and Ebrake handle
-- vortex gen.
-- comes in white
>> no red stiching.
>> powercoated BBS

** roughly $2.5k-$3k invoice difference between the two **

And for $2k+ you can do some basic mods (stg 1-2) and upgrade the suspension for the price of a MR.

I love my MR
the shifter alone was worth it
having driven my friends 5spd and driving mine all the time
I think the teflon lined cables just makes rowing the gears more fun
it feels so much nicer
and after adding the buschur bushings its even nicer than before
the HIDs are well worth the illumination also
the little tweaks mean alot to me
if that makes any sense

6speed is better for regular day driving, but its actually not best for racing purposes. check out all of HKS's evo cars...they're all 5speed.
