It seems to me that all of the EVO exitement has inflated some dealers head up a bit(Concord(whatever), Mitsubit, and other dealers marking). You're selling cars dude. Get over it. Your job's not that important. Your knowledge about Evo's will go as far as your dealer training and/or whoever you pay to do your "TUNER" work. Mark-up's are a reality, you just picked the wrong place to try and defend your point. Let your strategy work on the yuppie guys that don't care about money. Remember one thing (NEVER FORGET THIS) You are only a means of signing a paper that says we own the car-that's the value of your job to us

Why pay more??

Hey Guys, been lurking for awhile, checking out the furor over the Evo arrival. I've been a rally fan for years, and have owned two Lancia Delta Integrales. Pretty psyched about the Evo finally making it to U.S. shores.

Anyway, I don't get why anyone would pay $5000 over MSRP if there are dealers offering the car at MSRP. You could have the car shipped anywhere in the continental U.S. for 1-2 K. Due to my job, I've moved around quite a bit, and have shipped my car(s) all over, including Europe, shipping a car is very easy to do.

Personally, I'm going to wait, prices will drop, even for this low production car. If you have the cash to spend (or throw away, depending on your view), go ahead and spend it. The only cars that really don't drop are extremely limited production cars, that are typically produced in the hundreds, not thousands, and tens of thousands before production is up.

Well got to sit in the EVO on the showroom floor in Concord yesterday. I love the car dont get me wrong BUT, Just cause its about supply and demand right now doesnt mean Im going to pay the 10K mark up they are asking. If Im gonna spend 40K on a Car Im gonna go get an M3 or a Vette for Gods sake. Now Dan you can preach to the choir till you are blue in the face but Come on be realistic is this car REALLY worth 40K??? Glad you finally sold your GSX did you get what you were asking? Last time I heard you were asking about 20K for it werent you? As much as I love Mitsubishis and as much as I want to make the EVO my 5th Mitsubishi and as much as I love Casey and some of the sales guys at Concord, I really think that 10K over is just pure greed. Not that the sales staff has any say so in that mark up. Its the owner of the dealership. I understand that and have no bad feelings towards any of the sales staff. I still think they are great.

coolguy949 is right...my GSX was 1 of 2 they had. I wanted a silver one (got red). They asked around down here in texas the only one they could find was in Dallas If I remember correctly.
I drove mine off the pretty tile in front of someones desk...sweet.
They had about 12 or 15 GST's and a couple spiders....anyway

I think the EVO markups are ridiculous, several other cars are coming out shortly that will be a deterant....WRX sti (300hp)
nissan RX8 (rotory w/out turbo 250hp) etc...

I still think the EVO has more bang for the buck. Lot more Engineering and design.......definatly race proven....but 5k more than MSRP........not yet

mitzbiz,

Thats fine if you want to mark up $5,000.00 on your Evolutions. I'd reconment you buy an auto duster because those cars will be sitting on your lot for quite sometime.

And another thing...

An immature, rude, 14 yr old atitude doesnt help with selling any of your cars on this board either. Why dont you stop whining and just sell the damn cars at MSRP, youll make money and youll have happy customers.

Its called ETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICE, maybe your dealership should send you to a community college so you can actually understand what it is, and how it can help your sales.
