Weird Smell

I've been smelling this weird burnt smell while i'm driving, i thought it was just the oustside of somebody's car but yesterday i was driving home following my wife, i asked her if she smelt the same thing driving home and she didn't. I usually smell it when i have the heater on. I'm wondering if any one here has a similiar problem, i was thinking about taking my car in to see but i just haven't gotten time to.

Check under your car and see if you ran over a plastic bag or something and it got melted to the exhaust pipe. That happened to me, and it took me about 20 minutes to scrape all the melted bags off (I say bags because it was everywhere!)

i now have 12k miles on my car and since like first week of ownership, every time i run it hard, i get this burnt rotten egg smell. smells almost like plastic hoses or something. it's mostly noticeable when car sits still after i ran it at high rpms. it's not clutch because i know what that smells like, it's not coolant, because i know that smell too. the smell comes from the outside of the car, but i don't see any melted plastic anything underneath, nor do i really care.
ps: if anyone really cares, i can put my nose to good use and investimagate this further this weekend if i burn my nose on something hot, it'll be all ur fault!

A rotten egg smell is a catalytic converter. Maybe it happens before the exhaust gets warmed up or something.

i get that same rotten egg smell too, but only after driving between 6-7.5k rpm
and after i turn off the car.if it was the catalytic converter why would you smell it after the car is turned off

that sounds feasible. i just never get to run the car hard for long periods of time (only 5 mins at a time at high rpms with 15mins cruising in between). maybe if i had, the smell would eventually go away.
