Definitely agree with you there. It's usually obvious when English is a second language versus the dumbing down of the english language.

Does anyone else think this "truth squad" thing is pretty lame. Or am I the only one not scared to voice what I have to say. Isnt there a more oraganized way to get this across? Say actually asking for moderator support to create a new platform or create a more improved evom. It sounds like the moderators are willing to help but all it took was a new idea, and suggestions. Not forming a group with a leader not willing to lead. There are a lot of valid points, but "truth squad"!! What? I thought that I was on a car forum with enthusiasts. Not a bunch of guys raging against the machine. Who do you think runs this site. Its not money from my pockets. Good luck maybe by the end it will be the "hypocrite squad" Peace, Im out.

And, coercive "logic" isn't particularly convincing. What you're basically saying / accusing is that everyone that supports this idea is either (1) supporting something that is lame, or (2) scared to voice what they have to say. I would argue that they're neither, and are just willing to help brand new evo members along. We all have made our share of mistakes, leaving unscrupulous vendors selling false information (ahem, grounding kits -- don't worry, i never bought one

English and spelling is a must. IMHO.
We should all try to contribute in an intelligent manner. IMHO.

Keep the discussion going! If nothing else comes of this, perhaps the forum moderators will realize there's been a general shift in attitude of the forum populace and adjust accordingly.

I think the Truth Squad is a great idea , only thing is that we need the members to be also from different locations ( areas ) not only SoCal or something like that . I personally am planning to make a trip early next year to Dyno4mance for my RNR GT35R install and some other things so I will let all off you know how that turns out

p.s. as much as i admire the idea, I don't think i will make any useful contributions. In other words- i don't think you'll want me in any case.
alright,i am going to post my opinion on the matter and it is going to be long so you better read it
1) let me just say that it is nice to see that at least some members understand our position and do not think of us as "**** mods that just want he vendors money" (i got that in a pm from a member). we are all here for the same reason, we love the cars and we want to help this place.
2) the idea of the truth squad is good in the concept but it has quite a few faults at this point. the main fault i see is some of the members. when you get a guy with almost no real experience to be a member of the squad, all you do is discredit the squad because most people would not take advice from someone with nothing to show. IMHO, only members that have been active members/ have alot of experince should be part of the group. If a guy like Malibujack gives an advice, i will be damned if i won't listen. another issue is shop/vendor relationships. i know that some of you will say " i can be objective" but the truth (pun intended) is that this will be a hard task. when it comes to cars, people tend to have a very strong opinion on the item that they use which might limit their objectivity. for example, when a question is asked about a flash tune, the truth squad member will 99% of time recommand the tune that he has and will not list the advantages of other company's tune. the last issue that i see is the nature/style of the member. now, i don't want people to take this the wrong way but the way a person posts has ALOT to do with how they are viewed. for example, if a person presens their logic/argument is a mature way and support his logic than most time he will be taken seriously and be regarded has a contributing member. on the other hand, if a person is knowledgble and has experience yet they post in a rude/immeture way, thier knowledge really doesn't matter anymore. there has to be an agreement of some sort that all replies will be written in a very informative and mature way even if you don't agree with something.
2) as far as mods help with the matter, i am sure that you will notice that most mods will be more tan happy to help you guys out with this but it does have some conditions. i would love to mod any forum that you want and help in anyway i can but i will want to make sure that i get some courtsy in return. if it decided that all disscussions are done in a mature way and no name calling/bashing, i will make sure that your threads stay clean. however, if i see that people are being rude/ offensive, i will make sure to delete the posts and ban people. for example (again, no offense), WARRTALON does have alot of knowledge but his way of posting is unaccptable to me. i have seen many of his posts that have great info but they are wrapped in name calling and belittling which makes them useless.
3) noobs - i share alot of your feeling about this but i do have alot of issues with some of what you say. i agree that noobs should do a better job with searching and getting to know the site before they start posting and starting threads. i also thing that the more exepienced members should help them get to know the site instead of just saying "repost" or "search noob". we need to make sure that they feel comfortble because we do want them to stay.
4) mods/ members relationship - in order for us to help you, we need your help. i know that some of you feel the need to show people how things are done but the truth is that you are not helping by jumping in. for example, when a member is bashing/name calling etc.. if you jump on them all you do is make it worse. instead, just report the post and let us take care of this for you. if you see a stupid thread, don't go in and say "this thread is stupid", just report it and he will take it down for you.
5) group affiliation - keep in mind that when you form any kind of group/ organization, any action by one of the memebrs automaticlly reflect on the entire group. therfore, make sure you choose your members wisely. the entire group should and will be held to higher standards which means that if a member of the squad is acting like a fool, i will most likley view it much worse than a noob making the same mistake because i expect more from you guys.
6) finally, i think that if we can make this work than this will be very good for all of us/ this site. i can see alot of good coming out of this even done right. for example, featured articles. if you guys want to write an article about exhaust/ intake bov etc... than we can have it featured on the front page so all of us can read/ learn from it. however, i am talking purely technical articles here, not " just installed xxx bov". think more along the lines of " how an exahust system works" or "what does cams do and how they work" kind of posts.
i think thats it for me, thanks for reading and good luck with this venture. feel free to PM me or catch me on AIM if you need help or have anything you want to talk about.
thanks

My turn..
Amazing no one could give me a heads up on this.. I wish i wasnt up for the last 2 days, otherwise i would to finally post my thoughts and ideas, to help stop the redundance,
( yes i do contribute to this sometimes) lack of friendliness, ( again i contribute), lack of good info some give, and bring back the family atmosphere that was at this site when i first joined..
I would like to see alot of the good members come back here that i have watched get fed up and leave this site, or very rarely post..
I have learned alot about the evo, (i have been a mechanic for for 10 years) but knew very little about dsm-evo info specs.. general maint. no prob. With using the search button, and reading posts from timz, ams, malibu, with topics that had content that kept us and them interested to keep asking and posting, asking and pondering.. Well those days have been gone for awhile now, like most of the knowledgeable members..
Now those great informative posts, are buried by those damn redundant *** threads.. ( im not posting blame here, id like to though.) I also had a collection over 200 links to just about every possible how to or stupid answer questions that were commonly asked.. but i had a prob with my h.d. and lost all my links, now i still cant find half of them and even started a thread that went nowhere...
i need help to help the newbs..
I have contributed alot here along with many others, learned alot, but there really isnt much to keep our interests in the site.. There are some, but people dont learn much from threads like chris's 10,000 hp evo, or the vendor specials, or group buys.. we dont have anywhere to go without our threads being bombarded with irrelivant posts.. So this will be the last time i speak my mind on this topic if this thread gets thrown to the side like so many other great things i have seen come and go on this site..
Im passonite about my damn car ( wouldnt have owned 3 other dsm's and 2 evos) and this site, but i work to damn much to have the 1 or 2 hours i can spend a day here just getting aggravated with how much this or that threads.. There isnt much else going on here.. im not here to sit and post links all day.. im not a mod..
Lastly, i was never really a post *****, (even with almost 4000 posts in a little over a year, 80% informative or helping) but even ot sucks anymore, most of those guys left too, to, 2..
(quiet warrelton, one day i will figure it out)
It is great to see nick back though.. Yes i know this is just a damn internet forum, but its the first forum i ever joined and the only one since i have ever bothered with.. i dont watch tv, i come here.. So take my words as you may but i speak the truth, undoubtably..
So my grammer isnt perfect, but i did learn some big words along the way.. What do you want out of a wrench turning - truck driver..
damn i never type this much, hate to see if i was awake.. screw it im going to, why did i type tha

smoggy, you should have this posted like this (adjustable cam gears failed, Truth Squad Poll) for easier finding for newbs..
Truth Squad Poll: Have your Evo's adjustable cam gears failed.. just a suggestion..
this is great topic since so many vendors push these items when so many are cheap and cause probs.. like the probs with the ssqv, that i raised hell for and no one would talk about it with me.. not even big tuners.. but that was a year ago, times have changed now..
