O2 Simulator/Fix
O2 Simulator/Fix
I have an HKS cat back and downpipe installed, the tuning shop in my area was supposed to give me a test pipe too, however, the ones they had didn't fit. So they're sending me to the place that makes them to have one made to fit on my IX. I had them order an O2 Simulator to avoid the check engine light. But it won't be here today, and I'm getting the testpipe installed. Will this cause a loss in power or something? Or will it simply just have the check engine light on. I know I won't gain tremendously until I get flashed, but until then, will I be losing power or just get the light?

The guy who did the install was surprised by the CEL because my testpipe has some goojie that's supposed to trick the sensor (or some damn thing).
In any case, I'm thinking the CEL could've been because I hit 8K miles or I didn't tighten the gas cap.
get the ultimate racing testpipe, no cel's with it, it has a bung in it for the o2 sensor
i know 3 people running it for months now and none have gotten a cel
thats what i will be running between my dp and hks catback

when i put my exhaust on (3" buschur turbo back with hfc) i had no flash and it made a world of difference. power was amazing. after a day of driving i threw a code. the high flow cat was not breaking down exhaust gasses so i installed a simulator. problem fixed as soon as i started the car. i took off my hfc and now have a test pipe on and its great. i have many many other mods since then and repeated flashes but i just thought i would share my expierence.

No, you will not be losing power. It's just an annoying light. Just till the cel eliminator comes in you can use an anti-fouler to fix it. Or just keep resetting the battery every 36 miles or so when the light comes back on.
