Won't hurt. Most scanners ask for you to reset the lamp by K-O-E-F. Key on engine off.

Is this safe to do, could there be any problems from doing this? Has anyone done this before?

Only the dealer can reset this, through the use of their Mutt tool. (Unless you find a shop that's got one).

Actually any good OBDII scan tool can do this and I use a Toyota one but can scan any obdII code and erase it while engine is running under "carbobdII" selection as we all know what C.A.R.B. stands for, dont we? Hint,Hint..........People who live in Cali. I am quite certain know what it stands for

Thanks. I've been using an obdII reader I got off ebay to check and reset my codes. I've always done it with the enigne off, and ignition on. It gets anoying if I reset it a few times a month and have to wait for it with the engine off. I thought it would be great to just pull out my scanner and clear it while waiting at a stoplight or in traffic.

AI think you Can, but they Reccomend that the engine off key on. I have Acess to a Modis, tobad it pretty much sux on asian car (but i can Do almost anything to a American Car even Reprogram the VIN) as far a Euro cars go, thats why i bought it so i can fix VWs. I hate VWs. !!But you shouldn't Plug it in or unplug the Connection to the Scan tool with the Ignition on!! Thats a big No no, thats just FYI.

Any Generic Scan tool that has OBDII capability can Reset your MIL (he is saying SES not the SRS, I already suggested to stop saying SES cause people confuse it with SRS) The SRS can only be reset by a Dealer, or fixed.
