Anyone here wish they didnt buy an evo?
Every now and then I'll think that I should have gone for an STi instead, but I chalk it up to the whole "grass is always greener on the other side of the fence" thing. I love how the STi sounds, but I'm sure I'd lust after a IX every time I had to step into the Smurf blue interior. So yeah, no complaints here.
I'm but a young lad, so I love my Evo. There is no better car on earth for me right now. (note how I said right now - I'm 18)
I hope to keep it forever, but I won't be driving it much when I'm middle aged.
Know any old guys (50 and up) who tell you that they had a Mustang/Camaro/Chevelle/Roadrunner/etc/etc back in the '70s, had a blast with it, and they sold it once they 'grew up', and now regret it completely? I hope to learn from them, I'll probably buy boring cars if I have a family one day, but I'll tuck my Evo away for later.
It's the best car now because it's practical, fun as hell, and you don't get **** for having one. Everyone bashes high schoolers with 997 Turbos.

if this is your first car, then of course your gonna want to try other vehicles. this would be my 3rd car for my 6 years of driving. first being a 95 stratus no speed no good looks just a driver, imediately as i graduated i was able to get an 02 auto rsx it was damn sexy but slow as ****. now i have my evo im happy with it i've of course thought of maybe look at something else but really i love this why would i want to get rid of it. thats just stupid. but hey to each is own .
I wish I could have kept my WRX as well...or gotten an STi. Oh well, I will own another Subie but will not make the mistake of getting rid of the Evo...and then I'll have both
If you get bored with the car, call Robispec!!!! It'll ride better, turn crazier, and be nasty in the turns. God I love this car, 15,000 miles in 10 months with no cruise control....really wish I had that. STi is a great car, but the steering rack is slow, blue interior...blehh. S2000 - more expensive and it doesn't even come with enough doors/seats. EVO - expensive to maintain, but I knew that going in. Tires don't last, but I knew that before going in. Clutch Weak so I don't drop it often, but I knew that going in. Interior rattles, but I knew that going in. Best performance for the buck and some practicality (maybe an SRT-4, but really, FWD? no way) but I knew that going in. I'll keep the evo, maybe my next car will be a beat up truck... to tow the EVO!
First off, I love my Evo! I have only had it for 5 Months now. Before That I had a SRT-4. I loved that car too, but got tired of spinning my front wheels, and not going anywhere. I sold it for 17.5 It was a 04 with 26K miles. and bought an 03 Evo with 22k miles for 17.7 So It was a no brainer for me to upgrade
Im not sure I would pay 30k+ for an EVO though.
I kinda wish I never bought the car. Maybe I should have got a Kia or other cheap $15,000 car. The thing is I never drive fast and I never floor the car. I have owned the EVO for almost a year and floored it MAYBE 15-20 times. I also suffer from OCD disorder so if I floor it too many times on a given day I will stay up all night (no sleep at all) worrying that I damaged the car by running it hard. NO $HIT, its a nasty disorder. I have always had sportscars and always became paranoid about any noise, scratch or stress that the car goes through. The thing is my stupid a$$ never learns and I keep buying sportscars!
Wait until my first autoX event on October 14th, I better take a double dose of my meds that day. LMFAO
I do love my EVO.
I do love my EVO.

yeah I am in that stage now, I will be delivering the car to its new owner today! I just want to sell the house and move to the country. I spent far more time and money wrenching on her then driveing it, thats the same reasons why I got sick and tired of my crotchrockets.......
I got mine and I love the car, but the parts seem to wear out really fast, and when they do they are expensive. I find that I'm so paranoid about breaking something or screwing something up that I don't drive the car hard at all. It might as well be a Honda Civic or something b/c I don't use the car to its potential at all. I know one day that the clutch will go out and I'm sure that going to cost and arm and a leg to get taken care of. Brake pads wear out really fast, too.
I'm also constantly worried about the warranty. I have 1 mod (a turbo timer) and I've seriously lost sleep after reading all the warranty horror stories that Mitsu is going to find some way to screw me and void the warranty. I know there are laws that are suppose to protect the consumer, but I think we've all seen how well those hold up.
I guess that policy disgusts me the most from a company that has the audacity to claim they have the "best backed cars". I can tell you that when I'm done with this car me and Mitsubishi are finished for life.
So far I've only taken the car in twice for warranty issues, and they got taken care of. I did have the problem with the first set of tires being destroyed by the dreaded "inner tire wear" problem after 10,000 miles ... so I had to spring for a new set of tire. The dealership wouldn't help me at all, and said I must have run the car up on a curb and knocked out the alignment, or been taking a lot of high speed turns.
I can assure you I've done neither of these things. The alignment was screwed when I bought the car ... and I'm not the first this has happened to.
Driving a manual in traffic gets to be a pain in the @ss, but I knew that when I was buying the car. The suspension is a little rough, but that's never bothered me. I don't care about the lack of cruise control, because I never used it on that cars that I owned that had it.
I always wanted a fast car, and now that I've owned one it is out of my system.

It seems like you have way too many worries to own a high strung car and truly enjoy it.

, the only regret i have is gas mileage.
