When I bought my 03, I flat out told the service manager what I intended to do with the car. I told him, if something breaks due to negligence, then I will pay, if it breaks because of failure, then you pay. He agreed.

I can't tell you the number of times I went to the dealership for warranty work, torn boot, rattling exhaust, AC issues, etc, and they did all of it. A few times, while they were working on the car, I had the owner of the dealership and the two Service managers in their conference room showing them vids from my driving events.

I asked them, when I sold the car, why they did it, and they said I was the only one who was HONEST with them about the intended purpose, and that is why they honored it. They had so many folks flat out lie, and they said they wouldn't back it up because the folks didn't show them common respect.

Just food for thought when you get your next Evo or other 'track day' car.

I've only had my car for little over 2 months and so far I don't have any regrets. I find it to be a practical daily driver, and all wheel drive comes in very handy during thunderstorms which is frequent during this time of the year in Kentucky, hopefully we get some snow this winter.

I think some people just get tired of driving one car for more than a year, in that case you'll always have regrets no matter what car you end up buying.

It sounds like an evo is not the car for you. I love my car I bought it from a dealer ship all f*cked up! I have spent more than $3,000.00 in just fixing the car but I am not going to give it up because this is the car I want. If I didnt buy this evo someone else would have bought her and kept messing her up! she is good hands now.

And for people that need a "grown up car" how isnt the evo a "grown up car"?
its pretty expensive... its got 4 doors... its safe... AND ITS GOT ANCHORS FOR BABY SEATS IN THE BACK!!!

The only regret I might have is that I didn't buy the Tarmac Black one. I bought the Apex Silver because I wasn't going to be keeping it in a garage and I knew that TB would be a pain to keep clean, but I detail the car regularly as is, so maybe I should have gotten the black one. I love my silver IX though. No other regrets!

I sold my evo after a year to buy a honda fit. I hate to say that I miss the evo a little but my fit is so much more fun to drive honestly. It does lack power, but I bought a bike for that. If they could make something that had the agility and "dart-ness" of the fit with evo power I would pick it up in a second.

I got rid of my Evo after onyl 10 months of owning it . I just got tired of having the car it was fun to drive but it just wasn't comfortable enough for me to drive . I ended up selling mine and buying a 07 F150 Super Crew to pull this when it's done being built .

Nope, can't see myself getting tired of this car, but hey, you never know. As for comfort, I have a second car for that.

I have been checking out this thread for a couple of days now, and assessing all of the reasons why I bought this car (2006 TB IX). It was an impulse buy for me in a way. I had an '05 330ci with Dinan S2 and performance, cold weather package. I wasn't married yet, and I wasn't intending to buy a car at all. I was in my hometown for a long weekend and my parents wanted to get a new Galant GTS. While they were at the dealership I took a look at one of the Evo's that they had on the lot. I pretended that I was really keen on buying a new car so that they would let me test drive it... just so I could know what it felt like to drive an Evo. Well, I took my dad and we went on a test drive alone in the Evo. I got to push it hard, and the look on my dad's face was priceless... After that I knew I wanted an evo. It took me 2 days to find a TB one and when I did, I bought it. (My dad ended up getting a new fully loaded CX-7). My bimmer was paid for so it was my downpayment on the evo. For the first couple of weeks I was kinda missing the luxury of the bimmer with the steering wheel controls, trip computer, etc... but then I push the gas pedal to the floor and I'm like ... "what bimmer??" Occassionally I do find myself wondering about if the Evo is really "IT" for me, and I have to say that it's not. I am still adament that I will not sell my Evo. To me, like to many of you, I feel like I got a classic. The IX was made only for one year, and I have only put 9k miles on it since EARLY 06. So I feel like it's a rare car and a good investment. (My wife likes it too so that helps) I might get another daily driver, hell, I might get another fast car to mod etc... maybe another Evo (X, XI, XII???) but my Evo IX is the King of my Garage, and is not going anywhere. I love this car so much that on nice days I wax it and put it on display in the yard. So the answer to the thread for me is NO. I do not regret buying my Evo. Not for one second!

why would i regret it? Whats to regret? People have to understand what they are buying BEFORE they buy it.

I got mine and I love the car, but the parts seem to wear out really fast, and when they do they are expensive. I find that I'm so paranoid about breaking something or screwing something up that I don't drive the car hard at all. It might as well be a Honda Civic or something b/c I don't use the car to its potential at all. I know one day that the clutch will go out and I'm sure that going to cost and arm and a leg to get taken care of. Brake pads wear out really fast, too.

I'm also constantly worried about the warranty. I have 1 mod (a turbo timer) and I've seriously lost sleep after reading all the warranty horror stories that Mitsu is going to find some way to screw me and void the warranty. I know there are laws that are suppose to protect the consumer, but I think we've all seen how well those hold up.

I guess that policy disgusts me the most from a company that has the audacity to claim they have the "best backed cars". I can tell you that when I'm done with this car me and Mitsubishi are finished for life.

So far I've only taken the car in twice for warranty issues, and they got taken care of. I did have the problem with the first set of tires being destroyed by the dreaded "inner tire wear" problem after 10,000 miles ... so I had to spring for a new set of tire. The dealership wouldn't help me at all, and said I must have run the car up on a curb and knocked out the alignment, or been taking a lot of high speed turns. I can assure you I've done neither of these things. The alignment was screwed when I bought the car ... and I'm not the first this has happened to.

Driving a manual in traffic gets to be a pain in the @ss, but I knew that when I was buying the car. The suspension is a little rough, but that's never bothered me. I don't care about the lack of cruise control, because I never used it on that cars that I owned that had it.

I always wanted a fast car, and now that I've owned one it is out of my system.

I think it has to do more with the cars image. You did see F&F didn't you? I guess I am getting old. I too feel the car looks a bit to flash or boy racer for this responsible family man. I did get a LY Evo after all. If only Mitsu would have made an STi limited type package. So nice. I almost bought one of those but the Evo won me over. I still don't think i could part with my Evo but..... that X sure is appealing!
