Yes, the aftermarket parts will increase your insurance premium. But usually only a very small amount. You have to itemize a list of aftermarket parts and the value of each part. Give that to your insurance company and they'll calculate a cost. For instance, I have $4000 worth of wheels and coilovers on my car and it only cost an extra $18 every six months. Well worth it for the peace of mind knowing if they ever got damaged or stolen, the would be replaced. If they aren't covered, the insurance company doesn't owe you anything for aftermarket parts.
I don't know why everyone is pointing out that you should have had an alarm. The fact is, they had the means to get around the factory anti-theft system, I'm sure they could have cut the power to an alarm just as easily.
LoJack is pretty sweet, but a cop has to be driving by where the vehicle is to find it.
The best Idea that I've ever heard was people with highly modified cars wiring in an old cell phone under the dash that had power from the battery, but could still hold a charge on its own. That trumps GPS because it will work out of line of sight and without power, but it isn't quite as accurate.
In the end, if someone is really determined to steal something from you they will get it. It sucks but thats life. Scum will get theirs sooner or later.
There are also services that you can buy that will track your car for other purposes, but having that you could have logged on the internet and at least tracked it for a few minutes to try to help the cops out.
I'm surprised though, usually its just cut the power and put it on a tow truck and away she goes, off to the chop shop. I'm hoping you get her back, but I don't have super high hopes for the parts.
Best of luck man.

thats horrible!!!!Do insurance companies cover any of the money for parts/labor you have put into it if you can provide receipts? I assume they wont... unless maybe you own the property you live at and have home owners insurance maybe would they cover it? That really sucks man!!! Hope u get it back unharmed!!!!
