That's nothin compared to the prices in Ireland, 47000 euros, that's over $56000, for the bog standard evo, not the FQ330 or FQ300. How about that for a country that rips off its car buyers.

I was going to make the same point. We are some seriously spoiled effers. I like when I hear *****ing about gas prices too when i hear about people in Sweden paying almost $5/gal. Granted it's higher octane, but it's not race gas.

Well, here we go again with gas price difference. Car prices reflect buyers ability.Yes we pay 30Gz for Evo and Irish pay over 40. But Irish do not bring home $30Gz a year. For this kinda money they stay on state support.Ireland is a new China (or Silicon Valley if you want), they pull pretty nice dough.
Swedish gas prices include 50% tax wich provides nation's 401k equivalent, nation's free of charge education system and nation's free of charge medical treatment system . And oh yes ,- for 30Gz a year they would rather sit at home.
But with all those seamingly high gas prices they manage without Gazillion $$$ state debt unlike us.
Something to consider too; the crude they use comes partially from Norway (brent), partially from Russian Federation (urals) and both are dirtier than (sweet) coming from middle east (commonly used here) and require more refinement hence price increase. US govt. buys (urals) too, but for strategic reserves only. If one day they decide to pop the cork and use (urals) our gas prises will hit $5 too.
Cheers.

Wow. Thanks for the education. I definitely did not know all that, but I don't see what that really has to do with what I said. I don't care how little some people make here (US). $1.80/gal isn't *that* bad. Neither is getting a world class performer for $30K. I understand the prices are what the market can bear, but I thought a lot of the cost of cars overseas are luxory tax type things from the state more so than the manufacturer marking the cars up simply because they can.

No it is not the exact same. There are a couple of upgrades. First of all you will be getting the sound system (with subwoofer) that is in the sun and sound RalliArt. This is a significant upgrade. However, the main difference is that the 04 will come with leather seats! I hope this answers your question!

The traditional European (and Asian ,but excluding Japan) car taxation is based on cubic cm . The higher volume of the engine- the higher the tax ( both import and registration).Sometimes it becomes purely rediculous - you can by a car for 4Gz and then pay 5Gz in tax and registration to import it from let's say Germany to Ukraine and viseversa. And as we all know taxes (read my lips) can only go upwards .
US Gongress imposed import taxes on Jap manufacturers as we all remember as "punishing taxes", since NIxon they doubled . I wish Evo models were built here .

yah, i guess if the carbon fibre spoiler is standard plus the 100k mile warranty it seems reasonable. the sun and sound with leather is extra.

if they were made here, i don't think they would be ask good of quality... lets say that we were "finished" here like mitsu (in jap) put everything together except for 1 screw shipped it to america to be finished and then the us ppl just tighten the screw... therefor being "made" in america?!? then the quality of the car, except for 1 screw, would be any lower....

no offense to any car manufactures here... or any 1 who owns a domestic <3 biatch!
