2004 MY Evo | All Goes in Here. Anything and Everything. [All Threads MERGED]
Ironic, I just read the end of this thread and a Mitsubishi Salesperson (Fleet/I-net sales) called to tell me:
1. Now placing first order for 2004 EVO, which are supposed to arrive in June or July.
2. 2004 RS will arrive before the regular EVO.
3. Production of the 2004 Evo will be very short.
Not sure how reliable that is, in fact I tend to doubt it, but that is what I was just told.

'04 rumor or reality - news from a dealer
I have been waiting for the '04s to get the 10 year/100,000 mile warranty. BUT - I just spoke with a dealer in NY who said that their regional rep told them that there will only be 600 '04 evos coming to the United States - can this really be true (in light of the RS and jungle models)? Has anyone heard this before?

"Every new 2003 Mitsubishi now comes with even more extensive coverage to ensure your satisfaction, including a 7-year/100,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty and a 7-year/100,000-mile Anti-Corrosion/Perforation Limited Warranty and a 3-year/36,000-mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Please see your local participating Dealer for Limited Warranty terms and conditions.
Note: Excludes 2003 EVO Lancer Evolution. The 7-year/100,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty applies only to the original owner of new, retailed 2003 models sold on or after May 1, 2003. Subsequent owners receive the balance of the Powertrain Components coverage of 5-years/60,000 miles under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty."
So if you bought one after May 1st you are good!
North America will get 1600 evos. Mitsu over estimated the demand last year and now many ports and dealers have 03 evos that they can't sell. I am expecting that the 04 evo will be the last year for them in the U.S.

Actually if you bought your EVO in 2003 you get the good warranty. Here is a print from MMA website:

Incorrect.
The text quoted above shows that in order to qualify for the 7/100 powertrain warranty you have to be the first owner of a brand new Evo purchased AFTER May 1, 2003.
If you bought your car before May 1, like me, you do not qualify for the extended warranty period.

There is a period after Lancer Evo VIII, therefore the Evo is totally excluded from this warranty offer, the definition of original owner does not relate to the Evo at all, it just defines the extent to which the previous paragraph refers!

I don't think you do either, unless you have a special deal with your dealer.
You have a warranty, just not the 7/100. Just the 3/36.
It says Evos are excluded, period. That's the way I read it.
If you read my new sig line, you can tell I'm not counting on warranty coverage anymore.
