The model year designation for the Evolution is just something that is required in the US, but everywhere else in the world, it's just an Evo 8. Until it goes to an Evo 9, there will be no changes.
Sorry to disappoint anyone, but it's the truth.
On further note, 2004 Evo's will not hit dealers until most likely Feburary '04.
All of this was confirmed today.

2 new options on the standard EVO's for 2004 are leather seating and 315-watt Infinity AM/FM/CD stereo w/ trunk-mounted subwoofer.
You also have a new model to choose from in the EVO RS.

Those options would be nice to see on the US Evo.
Ahhh. Say it isn't so.. I hope they didn't go the cheesy route... I can get better aftermarket stereos and aftermarket leather upholstery if I didn't abhore leather. (In Texas it's just a way to go look I spend money to be uncomfortable, see how the leather sticks to my skin and scalds me in the 120' sun...) Ahhhhh... Give us options we can't get elsewhere Mitsu!
Personally I do not consider a new option a change in the model...its just another way to costumize your car...
Now as for the leather seats were an option for the '03s already...just one of those notso well known ones...sorta like the sport gauges...
As for the stereo system...where did you get that information..? Sounds cool, but I heard the stock Inifinity in another car I test drove (think it was a Sentra SE-R) and while it was nice...it was not overly impressive...
And also its been posted probably close to 10 times in this thread already that the 04s will not show up in dealerships until probably arround late Jan to early Feb...I even asked the dealer I bought my car from and they said the same thing...

OK, let me state for the record that this information I posted was directly from the 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Press Kit. Also let me point out that EVO production runs from calendar year to calendar year unlike standard Lancer production. So look for 2004 EVO's in February or March of '04

Now that is an impressive line-up of fine, enthusiast automobiles, especially the RE5 (NSU's dying breath).I think the poor Evo may feel a little bored in this company...
there's just way too many speculations out there right now. i do know this, mitsu will not be left in the dust. i'm sure a lot of fans of the lan evo thought that the 2.5. sti would blow us away, but it didn't. now that the ford cosworth is comin' i know that mitsu is doing there homework to spank the competition. have faith in mitsu tech, it hasn't failed me yet.
Still very vague, but of course there will be two trim levels.
I'm assuming "A" is the RS because it only shows red and white as the availible colors. However it has two FOGs (options group packages).
B is the standard Evo we all know and love. No new colors are available and all the old favorites are still here. Interestingly enough, the unique "EVO" color names aren't on there.
Phoenix red and Innsbruck White for the RS
Those two plus Lightning Yellow, Cool Silver Metallic, Pacific Blue, and Labrador Black Pearl.

i never saw people so freaked out about 04 models when u just got your 03s.i mean do u really think the 04s are gonna be that much better?me,i think sticking with what u got and making it better is the ticket.you already know the car and since it has the platform(awd, turbo)why not build on it?for my money i will invest in shepard racing tranny upgrade, maybe a vinshu upgrade or a bushur.aftermarket tranny upgrade (for shifts like butter),mean *** turbo upgrade and performance tuning ,i can see 450 to 550 hp.what else can u ask for?who cares about 04 and what mits. is gonna do.besides, why trade a car in and lose 4000 to 5000 when u could of spent that on the car u have now.
