another weird buzz from Walbro

Hey guys i just noticed today that my Fuel pump is making a loud buzz upon startup. it last for about 30 seconds or so. then it goes quiet. AFR's seemed normal and i usually dont drive the car right away from startup. i wonder if maybe the fuel return line got pinched or something because the car was on a chassis lift this weekend. anyone has any idea???!?!?!

^ completely nomral. The Walbro AKA whinebro will make all kinds of funny sounds especially after a very hard beat session..... and yes it will do it even when cold.

oh ok. what worried me was that it was a new sound. and i hadn't ran the car hard. in fact i was on base and pulled into the BX parking lot. then when i started it it made the noise.

now before i went to work i started the car and it did it for like 2 seconds and it went away. IDK it's a whinebro

P.S Jeff, love the avatar

That is completely normal for the Whinebros, I mean Walbros. I hear mine just about everyday when I first start the car up. I don't know if it is just me getting accustomed to the sound or if it actually goes away, but it seems like after the car is warmed up I no longer hear it.

Mine is audible 10 ft. away from the car. I usually drown it out with music and exhaust anyway. Passangers are like WTF is that noise?

I remember reading somewhere that at different times our cars with send two different voltage levels to the fuel pump. Maybe it sends the higher voltage during open loop. (When you first start the car it is in open loop for a short amount of time)

I also recall from sowhere that the Walbro is a 2 stage pump, high and low.

depends also on the amount of fuel in the tank

less fuel = more noticeable sound

I thought that was the case too; but after further inspection, my 255's whine has nothing to do with amount of fuel. Sometimes it's very loud, other times i can't hear it at all

mine has been kinda quiet lately. i noticed the high pitch noise upon cranking but it will go away really fast. it must be the voltage thing
