There's a reason for that though... Wend., Fri & Sat. I was out racing from 8pm to 4am. I was stupid back then, but street races here are a big thing. I would race one guy go back race another, launch after launch without turning the car off or stopping. I had tons of launches, so the stock clutch did well lasting for those races, but the clutch couldn't do it after 2 months of abuse. I swear they put lancer clutches in EVO's. As a matter of fact, the EVO is the 1st car I've owned that needed a clutch replacement. So before you say something like that, there's a reason. . Now if I was normal driving the car and it did that, then you got all the right to say that, but if you haven't done at least 20 launches in one night in less then 30 min., for 3 days in one week, for 8 weeks on the stock clutch, then I don't want to hear anything. I have never smelled clutch from my car and after 21,000 miles my Exedy is still perfect . Thanks

We had 140+ drag passes on our stock clutch with 405whp/445tq, stock turbo with 10x trips a month to the dragstrip and multiple NHRA/IDRA santioned drag racing events under our belt. After a year and a half and 140+ passes, many into the 11.5-11.7 range on the STOCK CLUTCH, we decided to take it out. It was in great shape and we re-installed it into another Evo who wanted it.

Yeah, we're with you Joe.

The stock clutch is definately crap.

Its hard to argue with someone that has no idea what they are talking about so we are done here.

hks 280 cams. Stalling problems and prob could of made more power with another cam.

as I have said before.. I wish I had never modified my car. It was fine with some simple mods and tuning, and the further I went, the less I drove it every day. Even though its still reliable and drivable, I would rather it be stock again.

FWIW I have nearly 50k on the STOCK CLUTCH, the car is making over 500whp on a fairly conservative tune (280 hks cams, GT35r turbo, bunch of other parts, STOCK ECU) The car has run numerous low 11 second passes driving the car easy (This was before the cams and 35r turbo)

Its all about driving style and understanding what kind of damage you can do with launch technique...
