rally armor mud flaps..but only because they're kinda pricey and scrape on every speed bump i go over which in turn is actually making them shorter lol

I agree. I loved my 1g dsm it ran like a bat outta hell when it was running right but I always had problems with it/unreliable. That's y I choose to keep my evo mildly modded, and not go through the headaches again.

I regret buying a Boomba catch can, it looks fancy but not baffled at all so it never really caught the oil.

I sort of regret buying an evo 9 turbo with a TME wheel and billet 5 blade CW, since I'm running a bb green i let my brother use it in his evo. I miss a no lag turbo car..

I do regret pulling my A/C in the summer, but since I live in the canyons I can feel the handling difference and won't go back.

I regret the hawk ceramic brake pads, for some reason they squealed so loud compared to all the others I've tried (probably glazed from canyon runs)

I despise the works grab shift knob, granted it's the right weight and size, it turns into a hot iron in the summer

ADD heads up display, my ricer mod I tried out.. It was nice and I liked the idea, but the display couldn't keep up with the car's acceleration =/

A muffler in the test pipe section.. It was supposed to keep my exhaust note down but it's just as loud as the HFC i had.

DMS 50MM Coil overs - extremely hard, makes the car ride like its 30 years old and you feel every crack and pieces of debris in the roads. Its way too uncomfortable. Its also super expensive. Car corners great though and the upside is the shocks are serviceable.

Apexi Power Fc- ancient compared to new ecus even the stock ecu. You cant log without a datalogit which is $300. Boost control kit is another $350. And it does not have anti lag and there is no way to get it. despite products that claim to do so they do not work.

4.785 RS final drive gearing is shorter and gas millage is horrible. You cruise at very high rpms. Puts too much power to the wheels for drag racing,as a result have broke 2 rear diffs. awesome for a rally car though.

Greddy 3 Inch inlet W 3.5 inch tip muffler too loud

Replacement clutch slave cylinders, buy oem ones only or you will be changing them every year.

Stainless Steel tubular manifolds, cracks every couple of months and has major leaks that don't spool your turbo. Keep the stock cast iron.

Unhappy Worst mod regrets

I regret putting on a set of Okada Project Plasma coils. They worked very well when they were new. They very slowly degraded my car's performance until it was hard to start. I put on the original oem coils and it ran like a champ.

I do not know what I have for a clutch. A mechanic thought it might be double clutch. I looked through one of the small holes to look at it. Not an Excedy double, but when the time comes I will seriously consider it.

I had a billet avid front crossmember mount and switched to AMS front lower crossmember with no bushing. I expected it to be much worse than a bushing mount and it has delivered. A little too racecar for me. I'm sure I'll get used to it though
Saves weight and room which is nice.

Last year I bought the Robispec hard bearing kit for my car. It seemed decent enough for a few months but then I started to notice some noises and some weird play in them.

When I inspected my arms with the kit on it, I found that they were rusting after 6 months. I live in So. Cal. where there is currently a drought and they were already rusting, most likely from basic car washing and maybe 2 days of rain in our "rainy season," haha.

Also, Robi put some hard rubber bushings in the seats of the bearings, which 1) stopped them from doing their job, and 2) splayed after 2 track days, hence the noise and the play in the kit throughout my arms.

Upon further inspection, I found that not only did these hard bearings/bushings not fit on the arms but to ammend this, Robi had tack welded some of them on. This was the final nail of regret in the coffin for this kit.

Since finding all this poor work on poor parts, I have replaced the arms and knuckles with OEM and Whiteline parts.

Since I had this problem, I went through his KW Clubsports that are also on my car, and I found that with his settings, my car was mashing the bump stops—literally, they looked smashed up. I am assuming that the springs that come with this kit are too short, and too hard + the set up was off if I was literally smashing the bump stops at the 2 track events I did + normal driving. As a result, I had this set up taken off and reworked by another suspension guru. Now, with longer softer springs and different bump stops, the car drives much better but to do all this work, it ended up costing me more than it would have cost to initially go with parts that were actually high quality and set up correctly rather than junk parts rigged on to my car under the guise that they would be awesome.

Eventually, I might do a buyer's review but right now, I am just filled with regret and credit debt for a while because of the cost to REsort my suspension

Sad story, bummer.

On the bushing thing - the factory parts are really nice, and OEM's spend crazy amounts of time tuning that stuff. Rob gave me the hard pitch for that same bushing set and I couldn't imagine the NVH consequences on a DD so I passed. Reading this I'm really glad I did; the PSRS is bad enough.

Rubber is a really great material for bushings. It doesn't have the nasty stick-slip characteristic of urethane, nor does it typically take a set when deformed. To these ends it's probably a safe guess that the RallyArt hard rubber bushing kit would be the best solution for us HPDE types.

Seems like RHDJapan still carries the stuff.

1st mod I've regretted over the last 4 years. The lightweight flywheel I installed 90k miles ago has ruined the splines on my input shaft and 5th gear. Lesson learned.

Hope this helps anyone.

Where were you when I was making bad decisions!?

haha. Yeah...It was kind of a bad lateral move. Basically, I ended up getting new arms and knuckles and just starting over with OEM and Whiteline. Now the car is butter.

Was it the flywheel, or the clutch disk female splines? What kind of clutch was it?
