Man that really sucks. Now I'm scared that Subaru might be doing the same thing to me. They're not very friendly with tranny warranties either. Good luck guys.

hmmm, this is really bothersome.

how about Mitsubishi salesmen that took customers for test drive and actually drove the **** out of the car themselves to impress?

i think the district rep. should be watching them instead cuz i dont think ppl want to buy an EVO with 5 miles in it that had been driven like **** the whole 5 miles.

just my 2 cents

How about a dealer that brought a demo to a local road course event and let the instructors drive it at speed around the track?

I've seen a local Subaru dealer in Maine do it an AutoX:

I'm willing to bet it ended up on the show room floor after this event as new. I wrote down the serial number.

And yes it was an STi:

Can we say illegal use of dealer tags?

Illegal? no. Hypocritical and unethical yep.

Tat's why corporations have lawyers, so they can write all that fine print, take your money, and say bugger off. That's marketing for you. Show em everything they want to do, but screw em if they do it! The two lowest forms of life...

I still am amazed they put a membership to SCCA in WRXs and then deny warranty claims for partaking in club activities.

That is the epitome of low.

Just to post an update--

I went by the dealer today to drop off my new clutch and verified without a shadow of a doubt that the DEALER had absolutely NOTHING to do with this. He also informed me today that isn't even pictures--it is VIDEO. He hasn't even seen the video so I am not sure if I ever will either. He also had a copy of this thread thath the district rep sent him. So the voice is being HEARD!

Sounds odd. The dealer changed his story from photos to video. In addition, according to your post, the dealer claimed he could show the alleged photos to you.
Again, not calling you a liar, I tend to be skeptical of dealers...

Except its not illegal, they own the car, they can do anything they want with it. My friend has a RHD JDM Evo VII he rides around on public streets with dealer plates, the cops cant do anything about it since, you can drive anything including your mom's kitchen sink legally with dealer plates.

LOL...my new personal tag is just for people like you...too bad I can't say what it says here because they are watching.

How in the world does that mean I was full of crap? The dealer is the one who changed their story--not me. Again...ANYONE wanting to verify, please call Todd Stephens, the service manager of Leith Mits, at 919-872-1011. Thanks.

This is just a question...but is there anything in the fine print of the warranty about how "hard" or "fast" you're allowed to drive the car?

I know that they have now wrongly applied modifications as related to damage or mechanical problems (ie, a cold air intake voiding a SUSPENSION warranty, crazy $hit like that)...

But I'm assuming THAT item is in writing somewhere. Unless there is something in writing about driving hard/taking a car to the dragstrip for the weekend/etc, then they can't legally deny warranty service. And this would be VERY difficult to word properly, because THEIR idea of driving hard and MINE may be two different things.

Does anyone know if they have covered their butts in writing, on a form you sign when you buy the car, explicitly saying you cannot in any way/shae/form race the car or the warranty is void on broken parts? It would seem to me that unless they have this, then you should be able to very easily win a lawsuit on the matter.

If they are gonna try to rip you off, you may as well make them work for it.

mprtklr, you are a tool, end of story.

4LBEAT8, there is a statement in the warranty booklet that states your warranty will be void if you "race" the car. Not sure how much room there is to maneuver around the word "race" in a legal sense.

Using something that was posted on an Internet forum as evidence against you is shaky at best. They cannot PROVE it was YOU at the keyboard when the message was typed, and you can always say you were just bull****ting. They can't prove otherwise, so **** 'em!
