Yep, a kid (hardly) that knows how to spell and proud of it.

Call Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, Corvette, Viper and SVT, all sponsor racing clubs/events and most offer high performance driving classes as well - in YOUR OWN car. I do not have the time - gotta go to Asia Pacific for the next two week. Geez, hope I can get by with only paying child fare, will leave me with more dough to buy all that Cusco stuff I want

I was assuming that he told Mitsu to stop following him. The next legal step would be to get a restraing order preventing anyone representing Mitsu from following him.

I also assumed that they took a picture of him inside of his car. They gets really iffy when a private person does it as opposed to the government with a warrent. If nothing you have a civil suit for invasion of private property. ie pictures of you, which is your property in your car, also private property.

it gets really iffy but defatly check with the bbb and a lawyer

This is all very lame. I am considering the EVO vs STi vs used Z06 for a daily driver/track car. I have tracked and AX'd my Boxster S and had wheel bearings replaced under warranty. Yes, it may have been aggravated by track use but the wheel bearings are also a weak spot on the Boxsters. The Porsche dealer didn't give me any trouble at all and it is obvious by my tire wear that my car is driven hard. Maybe dealers are just not used to selling high performance cars and taking the consequences in stride like Porsche dealers are. Do they really expect these cars to be driven like all the other Mitsubishis? The dealers have something to learn. Why would the EVO come with Brembos if it was not made for tracking, etc? Who needs Brembos for the street? I don't know about replacing whole trannies and stuff but minor issues that come out of hard driving should not freak out the dealers. Just a comment and a concern for me. Hope Mitsubishi is listening.

Just replacing people's clutches I think is the big issue with Mits. I think it is obvious why they made the clutches weak, to prevent serious tranny damage that would cost ALOT more to fix or replace under warranty. If this is the case, they should've known that clutches would go left and right and should've been prepared to fix hundreds maybe and aware that this problem would occur. I mean come on, there are people out there , under normal driving conditions, that are having clutch issues. It is obvious to me that this isn't a coincidense (sp?) because I can't see this being an issue in Japan where they are driven hard there also. I think it was intentional.

They have not had recalls with such low numbers, however they have recalled the 2002 Galant for only 3400 units or the 2002 Diamante for 3900 units. They were also quick to recall the Outlander this year for preventative purposes.

I wonder how many of these warranty probs are a result of the dealer just telling people that a repair isn't covered and the people just believing the dealer. If you are denied take it to the service manager, then the dealer manager then go see a lawer. They should know if you have a case. I am only wondering how much is actually Mitsu deining repairs and how much is dealer B.S.

Soon cars will have GPS units and Manufacturers will have a Division with the sole purpose of tracking thier cars, Keeping databases of speed and acceleration, g forces, times, dates, locations...

I'm sorry Mr so and so....We can't warranty that, you went 75 in a 55 last tuesday at 3:03pm....Have a nice day

I actually lost the warranty on my FD RX7 the same way. Popped the motor, took off the mods and went to the dealer. They call me the next day "yeah, the service rep said your car was seen running mid 12's at the local drag strip so..... I was more disappointed at getting caught then mad. I mean you play you pay right? But you can’t blame a guy for trying. It was also kind of freeing, because after that the mods really started.

If you cannot afford repairs, then do not race it and do not go crazy with the mods. Or at least be smart enough not to get caught.
Oh and they do not need to be at the track to know you were out there. Just tell a few track people, hey we will give $XX for every late model XXX you let us know about racing out here. So that guy showing so much interest in your car at the track may be trying to make a couple of bucks off of your little indiscretion (kind of sleazy I know). You probably thanked him/her for complimenting your car
"Complete paranoia is complete awareness" don't know who said it first but.....
It would be nice if they would make the warranty optional and dropped the price for people who know they are going to mod/race it. Then you would not have to play all these silly games.

I really don't get these manufacturers ( included).
Why even waste money on people at the track to screw over fellow enthusiasts by ratting on them?
Do they really save that much money on denying claims? I seriously doubt it. IN addition, they're alienating their clientele.
I still think it is mainly the local dealerships that are behind this kind of behavior.

As I said in another thread, Dodge actually sends a truck FULL of warranty parts to their Viper Days at the road courses for the sole purpose of doing WARRANTY work on the SRT-4s and Vipers on parts that are broken AT THE TRACK! Why can't we have this? Or at least let us bring the car back to the dealer for service.

Now that you mention it...I did have time slips in the center console but I wouldn't think they would go through my personal stuff...they are stuffed at the bottom and they would have had to go over my wallet (which i left in there), insurance book, and some other stuff.

In other words, to find those slips, they would have had to go digging through my stuff. And they say it is the district rep who is saying I was racing...not the dealer. I'll check my slips when I get the car back and see if they are still in there the way I had them. I had them folded in a special arrangement.

Yea I highly doubt they found those time slips...I mean they seriously would have had to been rumaging through my stuff. Plus they only knew of one run and I had like 15 or so in there. Also, I could just say those belonged to someone else and I was just holding on to them. So that would never hold up. And the district rep specifically said someone was at the track and saw me and got pictures.

Mitsu is so bad that I took my Evo to the closest dealer and was denied service cause I didn't buy the car there. I told them I didn't buy the car there cause the wouldn't open it up so I could show my wife and they didn't allow any test drives. I called Mitsu and they said the dealer has the right to do this and I should take it to where I bought it for service. I'm so much happier now that I'm getting a BMW and sold the Evo, Mitsu is CRAP!
