Mits is WATCHING US at the track!

I told them I didn't buy the car there cause the wouldn't open it up so I could show my wife and they didn't allow any test drives. I called Mitsu and they said the dealer has the right to do this and I should take it to where I bought it for service. I'm so much happier now that I'm getting a BMW and sold the Evo, Mitsu is CRAP!

Best service I EVER recvd was when I owned a 740iL
Hell, the car had 100,000 miles and was 6 yrs old and at a routine checkup for something they told me the engine sounded rougher than it should, something I never noticed. They tested it and told me it was not up to BMW "smoothness". Turns out some casting chemical they used on the 4.0 V8 could cause pitting on the cylinder wall causing slight compression loss and rougher than BMW idle.
They replaced the shortblock. Free of charge AND gave me a rental. I was blown away...
It really happened, kind of seems like I made the whole thing up as it was really weird, but it happended and I had to drive an hour to the place I bought it just to have the car looked at. Mitsu said they would speak to the dealer in Torrington, CT about this, but thats it. Add on to that the 1-->2 shift issues, paints chips, break squeek, color fade (yellow color matching problem), and mouse fur carpet starting to look worn after 2000 miles I started thinking this isn't really the type of car I want to own. I loved the power and the handling, it just the "other" stuff that started adding up so I'll try it all over again with the BMW. Although I hear in Dec there will be an AWD G35.

wow, all these problems.....worn carpet...clutches....5th gears...Dealer service.
The dealership i go to Ontario Mitsubishi, here in so cali is the best service center i have ever dealt with, not only do they accept my mods, everytime i go in, they gather around my car to see what i've done this time.
oh BTW, i have NONE of the problems listed above and i have 4,000 miles on my car. Carpet looks brand new, all i do is take care of my car. and that is the case for all the other 99.9999% of evo owners.

Well check this out...I get a call from the service manager yesterday and it turns out that the District Rep has photographs along with dates and times of me racing my car at the track! They knew down to the very date, minute, and location that I ran my car down the strip. I have not personally seen the photographs YET, but they hit the nail right on the head with the date and time so I highly doubt they are bluffing--otherwise, it would be one hell of a good guess!
Just a warning to you guys out there. I had heard it before--the rumors about being watched at the track and to be honest, I thought it was bull crap. BUT IT ISN'T! Do as you wish--I personally am going to continue to race my car, but just know that there is a good chacne they are watching. If you are going to go racing, remove your tags when doing so so they can't bring it back on you. I ordered new tags personally so they wont have that set on file.
Oh and they read this board too! That is kind of assumed though. But they see each and every person who posts on here about their times and racing and such...

Move to California man... Reps dont do that here (catch folks on the race track LOL
)... LOL... they race with us.....
Mitsu is not at fault if you break parts nor the Lan Evo is **** car, or any manufacturer for that matter. Cars in general all break as race cars do. Mitsu, Subaru, Porche, MBZ, Ferrari,Lambos, Jags and all domestic perf cars all have same issues. It is how you present it to get repaired
...
Nothing is bullet proof... Reps are not bullet proof LOL...J/K
Hey if you can get away with free repairs from the dealer go for it. If not "GULP" pay for it.
cheers
no harm intended here

I would like someone to show me how driving a car down a dragstrip is any harder on a car, than what a lot of people do in the streets. I bet driving to work and back beats up my car more than a pass at the track (pot holes, other jerks = slamming brakes, etc)

LOL...your argument would be much better if you didn't add the obvious exagerations because then it just makes you look silly. There are a lot of people who take care of their car and still have problems. In fact, I gurantee you I take better care of my car than you do and I still have issues. Oh and 99.9999%? That isn't even 1 out of 3000 so we know that couldn't be right.
To the people who think it's stupid for Mitsu to "waste time and money" having people scout the local tracks you aren't looking at the big picture. How many miles is the warranty good for? Say it's 36,000 and the some guy only has 1,000 miles and gets caught at the track, he's basically screwed if anything goes wrong with his car. Mitsu is saving BIG TIME by having people watch for EVO's at the track. I think it does suck that they advertise their cars like the rally car it's based off of, but that's their ticket to get people to buy their car. I don't know how much your tranny costs, but the one in my stealth is about $4,000, and mitsu says that they cannot replace anything internal. So, you can see that paying some guy to spy and get my warranty voided can save $$ in the long run. Also, I believe taking your car to any timed event even though you don't "abuse" your car is considered the same as if you did.

Now, all you
appologists (sp?): f*ck what's written in the warranty booklet, f*ck that Subaru does the same thing, etc answer me this question: Is it a right way to treat a customer to deny him/her warranty service to fix a part which failed during car's INTENDED use or to fix a dash rattle if they have raced their car or put mods on? Yes or No.First is an example everyone is focusing on, and latter is a corrolary of
decision to void ALL warranty in case of racing - **** poor customer relations on behalf of dealers and
, yes
- hate to break it to you people but dealers did NOT right the manual nor the warranty booklet. If you are not willing to fight for your consumer rights - the least you can do is get out of the way of the people willing to do so...
Geez, did not realize this was going to turn into a rant. Sorry. Oops, gotta run, don't want to miss my flight...
No body is anybody's way here. Everyone has the legal right to do whatever they want just as people have to express their opinions and experiences.
maybe some people should look before they leap, or listen more than they speak.
maybe some people should look before they leap, or listen more than they speak.
I have a clutch remedy. I will stock up heavily on Clutch Masters, ACT, Cusco and Exedy clutch kits and for those who buy an Evo and don't want to deal with this, have the dealer give you a "deal" by telling them that you will not buy the car knowing that you will have problems with the clutch so you feel you should get a discount for the known problems. Buy the car at a good price then come and see me with $700- $1600 and get a great clutch !
I really think that this would solve everything !
