Trip to Buschur

First of all let me say this; these guys are first and foremost about customer service. They took the time to make sure I had everything, and told me all the little tricks to installing my parts. Tym took me for a ride in their Evo, and wow does that sucker pull! I mean like night and day difference, and in response to peoples' concerns about the exhaust note, don't be concerned. At idle, it is hardly louder than stock, maybe just a little deeper note. At cruising speeds, again, maybe a little louder, but not much, and I am picky about things, so I really mean not by much. At WOT, it sounds incredible, not "ricey"(for lack of a better term, not trying to offend anyone) at all. Car idled beautifully, and if you have been following, that is with the 264 cams.

For everyone hyping all the 4" coffee can polished exhausts, save yourself a lot of grief and buy Buschur's, go buy some metal polish and polish it! Then you'll have the best performance, and when your buddies crawl under the car, they'll see your nice shiny exhaust and be impressed.

I just got my Buschur fmic set up this week - I'm so happy - its a real design revolution. They certainly know what they are doing when it comes to making amazing parts for a great value. When you see all the parts together - with the amazing turbo discharge pipe - it will blow you away!

Hammerli,

You are a lucky guy!
Love to take a ride in that car.
So at idle, no difference from stock with the 264's ?
Wonder why they didn't use the 272's ?

Al,
So the Buschur intercooler is a better unit than the Pruven for a much cheaper price? I didn't think you'd ever sway away from the Pruven intercooler.

The idle is a little different, but not much, and it certainly does not sound rough to me. I think some people that have installed the 272's have had difficulty getting a smooth idle. I may be wrong, Al I think has had both, but again I could be wrong. Al, what do you think the idle was like with both?

The IC is really well engineered. The feed line from the turbo is SO much better than stock. They even ship it with a section of heat shield where it comes past the exhaust.

All HKS cams are just fine - the 272 have a bit rougher idle than the 264 - bUT with the stock turbo and red line there is practically no difference between the two sets

When you start going over the stock red line - www.dynoflash.com Stage REV and ARP rod bolts for example - or building the engine - thats when the 272 really start making a lot more power

For a daily driver and with the stock turbo - I would use the 264 - BTW I am now selling one set of 264's used

Its very typical BTW - that I will go through several different set ups - such as turbos and cams - to find the right combo for my tastes - that does NOT mean that its the best for everyone - just the best that I like. BTW - I already tested - HKS 264 and 272 - JUN 272 and I have JUN 264 on my desk ready to test also

All I can tell you guys about BR is don't be scared off by the lower pricing - they give great values for their stuff - its still very kick *** product and it works

My local buddy has the BR exhuast and intake tune - SAFC and a boost controller - he went a best time so far of 12.2 on a totally stock intercooler and turbo - this is some kick *** results from some very inexpensive parts - the results speak for themselves

Al, are you running a MBC with the Buschur IC? I am installing a SBC-IDIII at the same time, which requires the nipple off the turbo outlet pipe. The new one from Buschur is designed apparently for MBC only, since no nipple. Just wondering if you encountered this, and if so what was your fix.

You can simply drill and tap in a common barbed nipple to 1/8 NPT fitting which can be found at any auto parts store or plumbing supply house. You can either put it on the turbo discharge pipe OR - you can put it anywhere in the pipe from the turbo to the intercooler

The BR fmic kit is even more of a bargain when you consider that HALF of the intercooler pipe is included with the kit - the entire turbo discharge to the fmic. Considering I spent almost 700 for my RMR pipe kit - thats a real bargan

Finally - the hose couplings BR uses are some of the highest quality I have seen. I'd like to find their source as they are some real nice heavy duty stuff

Big AL

I also bought from them T-bolt clamps for the fittings, which are much easier to work with and take more torque than worm gear hose clamps.
