If you have all your emissions still hook up and a good cat., you should be good to go. Btw, how many miles do you have on the EVO.

not sure on Ca. but in other states they run your car on the dyno and insert a sniffer in the tail pipe good thing about us awd guys and gals is they dont have an awd dyno so we get to do the 2 speed idle test which unless you have a chevy luv thats ragged out you ll pass.
also of you see that guarenteed to pass stuff cough bull s.i.h.t cough running race gas does the trick hope that was helpful

All they will do is just plug it into your 0BII. They don't run it at all.

You don't really have to worry about just having a cat back exhaust unless something was wrong with your cat in the first place. If your really worried just drive your car around for like 30 or 40 minutes before you go get smogged and it should make it liklier to pass.
You might not pass sound, though.

there is no new smog test law. you go on a dyno, car is run at 1500 rpm and 2500 rpm. since your car is awd, they can't dyno, so they check smog devices, chk engine lights, and tailpipe emmissions. good luck.

You shouldn't have any problem passing...actually with a tune (running a little leaner) you'll probably be cleaner than a stock Evo.

You'll only start to run into problems when you run big cams, etc...but then again a good tune will help that.

What kind of problem with big cams? The higher than stock idle?

More fuel and more air being moved. But when tuned properly the impact will be reduced.

Depending on where you go, they will put your car in neutral because they don't have an all wheel drive dyno, connect a probe to your exhaust and read from your OBDII port at the same time. When i went, they revved my car and kept it at 2,500 rpm for about 30 seconds, then did the same for 3,000 rpm. Most evos pass the emissions test easily, its the visual inspection you need to worry about. They will not pass you if they see that a single vacuum hose is misplaced. Make sure that the only mods you have during the smog check are the tune and cat back exhaust, otherwise you risk failing. .....i hate the visual inspection..makes no sence. You could chrome a stock pipe and they will swear its aftermarket!

No, just a tune designed around the longer duration cams.
