Fuel pump problems...

So i have a Buschur Dual Walbro kit in and wanted some input on whats causing a problem before i get it checked out. My Fuel pump is "empty" only when it shows 1/2 tank left on the gauge, but when i went and pumped gas into it, it'll only take 8 gallons? Someone said it might be the arm w/the float not working correctly or is bent? Any thoughts?

the arm with the float is the only thing that has to do with the fuel gauge.... something is wrong there

Did you put the BR kit in yourself? If so, I know how much of a pita it is to get the assembly out, so you might have damaged it on install/removal. If you had a shop do it, I would take it back and tell them to fix it asap.

Good luck.

Someone put it in for me, i'll report back once i can get it checked out, my mechanic is out of state at the moment. So if the arm is bent, what are my options to fix it?

fill the car up and see if the gauge moves. if not then the float arm could be bent. if so your going to have to take the assembly out.

I would guess the float arm is bent. Take it out and take a look at it.

The gauge goes up, it just reads empty even though it isn't when it reaches about 1/2 close to 1/3 empty.

+1 on this. It sounds a lot like the arm could have been bent when the mechanic either installed or removed the assembly.

The float arm would have to be bent an extreme amount for this to be the problem. Your problem is the sending unit is not making electrical contact until your tank is half full. I would check the rheostat that is probably not pushed together the whole way. To the gentleman with a leak at full tank, try tightening the black electrical connector a small amount. If the nut is not tight enough the two wires will not be squeezed on the rubber seal. Do not over tighten, you could ruin the fitting.
