i don't think anyone would disagree with me if i said 17x8 +38 is not the optimal size for performance. i still really like the wheels themselves and i'd much rather have them over any Rotas, regardless of size and offset

just because OEM does something doesn't necessarily make it the best for the car. one example would be MR Bilsteins - are they great? certainly. but are there better aftermarket setups? i think you know the answer

Yes, folks would disagree. Performance is a big word.

Grids are offered in a offset for Evo IX owners that Volk doesn't offer the TE-37 in. The difference between +22 and +20 is bigger then it would sound (visually).

I'm mulling over getting the Volk Gram light 57Pros in (What Ray's Wheels would consider) a custom offset that is +20......they should be about as concave as the Grids but they are 2 piece forged I believe. The cost is higher then some CCW's if you can believe that.

Gotta finish getting car running first and then I can worry about the wheels later. I already have a set of Grids I'm not doing anything with.

Another thing that I didn't see anyone bring up is the Advans are CAST wheels, just like Rota's. The only way i'd pay that much money for wheels is if they were forged, like the Volks. I know the SuperJDM fan boys don't wanna hear it, but it's true, do your research people.

Yep I mentioned that in one of my earlier posts. It is one of the things that made me think twice about the Advan wheels. The only real advantage they have is the fact that they are lighter than rotas and I'm sure the build/quality is better.

Advans are CAST, but they are made with Enkies special MAT process (by Enkie AFAIK). Rotas are also CAST, but made with a regular casting process, so its quite different.

Enkies MAT cast technology is between cast and forged rims.

Here is more info

Get what you want or what you can afford. I don't see anything wrong with replicas. You have enough feedback in here to see that you will most likely not have any issues as far as them breaking/cracking. All your conflicts will be physcologically.

I use Rota's to drive my track car around the block and it's what she sits on while being trailered. They got a lot of compliments. I bought 6 orignally in case anything happened as they are known to discontinue lines. I still have 2 in storage and I bought them about 4 years ago.
If you want looks, don't mind weight, and don't want to spend big dollars then Rotas are safe, they won't break on ya. If you don't care about looks, do care about weight and don't want to spend big dollars then there are better choices. If you're willing to spend some bucks, you can buy lighter, stronger, better looking wheels but 5 may set you back the cost of 12-15 Rotas.
I track Enkeis FWIW.

Also, another great cheap, light, strong rim is the Kosei K1 TS.
i love my kosei, in fact i have 2 sets, one for winter and one for summer, they are cheap, light and are good quality

ive also rocked alot of rota wheels, then i realized i was wasting money, sure they are cheaper new but you lose 50% value instantly, whereas with volks etc you maintain value, hell i bought a set of regamasters for my honda and sold them 2 years later for more than i paid (bought used)

^ thats one of the main reasons i buy the real wheels is because they are cheaper in the long run

I'd rock rotas no problem. I don't see why I would spend over 1.5g's for a set of wheels I'll mess up on michigan roads.

I think Rota's are fine, but with some searching you can still get name brand wheels. If you want the looks with out the price, Rota's are there.

For my IX, I chose Evo X Enkei's. Also, Konig has the milligram and kilogram made by Enkei using MAT technology which I think it another cost effective pick.

If you really want cheap, there are some XXR 522 wheels that look decent.

+20 is most definitely an Evo X offset. I wouldn't of had to do half the work I did to my fenders to get proper tires to fit if it wasn't
