You need to completely empty ur tank I would advise against mixing fuels even by the smallest margins.

Thanks. That just makes me think that having the switch would be annoying. I'm also assuming manually emptying a tank isn't the easiest thing to do.

where i live e85 is 80 cents cheaper. at the end of the day, e85 is where its at. its like getting race gas for dirt cheap and it keeps your motor clean and knock is kept away. e85 is what you should run but get a beater car for loooong commutes if you can.

I am going to make the switch in the spring as well. To be safe u need to buy a e85 tester, I got.mine from buschur racing. They cost $15.00 plus shipping and its simple to use for accurately making sure it is 85% eth. Go to buschurracing.com and check it out.

Never tried emptying my tank but it doesn't sound fun. From what I heard there are two plugs at the front of tank but not sure.

No need to get under the car. Simply unhook the fuel return line from the fuel rail and let the car idle, with the fuel line directed into a gas can. Only takes a few minutes if you let the tank run pretty low on the day you are planning to change out.

Take a look at the minimal mods in my signature vs. the incredible gains in HP and TQ I gained with a tune. I would definitely say the switch is worth it. In addition, depending on what exhaust you are running, the smell is much better with E85 vs. 93 octance.

See that would kill me! I average 260-280 on a full tank if I don't boost. I fill up twice a week...$100 total.
it's worth it. you'd just need to fill up one more time at the end of the week to get through friday.

i've been running it all year round. the last time i tested it was when they were transitioning from summer blend to winter blend and it was 77%. right now it's likely 70% and no issues like pulling timing/knock. it still runs smoothly...it all comes down to how it was tuned. i was tuned on winter blend a bit rich for e85 with the intention of it leaning out in the summer time. working out well so far.

emptying the tank is a good way to be absolutely sure of what you have in there but most people i know run the tank low with the understanding that they have to run through a few tanks before you're running pure 93 or e85.

i haven't switched back because it take a bit more of a commitment but if i got stuck and needed gas it wouldn't be a big deal really.

i got one from summit for the same price. it's really easy to use and definitely worth it.

you could run winter and summer blend on the same tune if it is tuned to allow for it.

winter blend isn't always optimal for hard driving but that's why god invented datalogs.

Some good info in this thread and some not so good. You DO NOT need to empty your tank when switching, just run it low, and fill up with the other type of fuel. If your tuner knows what he is doing, then the summer/winter blend issue is moot. I race on winter blend probably 3-4 times per year, never had an issue.

It is ABSOLUTELY worth if for anybody that has access to the fuel, even if you are bone stock. The mileage is a little bit lower, but the additional power makes it a no brainer. E85 is the good stuff!!
