Just got, buying, reviewing, thinking about a new Evo [Ultra Hyper Mega MERGE]
Re: almost bought one, under MSRP.

Don't be discouraged by the dealers asking more than MSRP. If you are serious, they will deal with you. Just be prepare to hassle.

That's great but don't get to greedy now ... the car is easily worth its asking price -- no need to low ball but I can relate to your wanting to get the price ... but then again, so does the dealer.
People buying evo's now (assuming there will be enough to go around for a while) have much more leverage since dealer's have a general idea of what they can sell them for (the high & low, etc). I bought mine right off the truck (1st day at dealer) so getting below or even right at MSRP wasn't happenin' if I intended to take it home that day. Luckily for me, I have good credit and landed an excellent interest rate (5%), so in the end ... I end up paying just as much or even less than most people that financed MSRP.
The evo is about 300 to register, plus sales tax which is 7.75%. We dont have a special automobile purchase tax like some other states. It's straight sales tax. You guys in FL dont have sales tax right?

Don't worry Coolguy949,
I ended up with close to a $36K bill after adding in tax, tag, title, environmental prot. package, and pit pass. But I still believe that this car is every bit worth all of it! The fact that only 2500 or so '03's will be built, and it being the very 1st year of the U.S. evo should slow down depreciation, assuming it stays in excellent condition. An example is resale value on the Twin turbo Supra's or 93-95 Twin-turbo RX-7's ... although different circumstances ... these cars are rarely found in excellent condition with under 100K MILES, and if they are ... people will pay big $ for them!

Hey Wombat - I was looking at that exact car - I don't know who you dealt with at Barrett, but they were spinning me lines left right and center, I walked when they told me $8k over invoice.
Congrats on getting it though - hopefully see ya around ATX

Got my EVO!
Well,
Finally got my EVO last week from Herb Connolly
. Sunday night I got an email from Fernando (sales manager)letting me know my car was in and I drove it home Monday afternoon. All in all it was a great experience. They were extremely fair on my trade and I paid MSRP not to mention I got 4.35% for 60 months to boot. I ended up getting there before the car was ready and everyone from the Service Manager to the Techncian prepping the car was very friendly and helpful. I felt very comfortable working with my dealer as this was the first car purchase where I didn't feel like somehow I was getting screwed in some way. Picked up the car exactly as I requested also....no front plate bracket, no wax and no stickers....they even left the plastic on the seats till I took delivery to keep it clean. Oh and by the way, it had 4 miles on it when I took delivery, no one drove this car but me. They even let me gas it up myself, as required by
, I used premium of course
Now that I have put about 300 miles on the car I can say there is NO comparison between this and my WRX. That is not to say the WRX suks but they are two very different cars. While the WRX was a bit slow to react the EVO is razor sharp. This is not a car for the timid or the inexperienced. You can get into trouble really quickly if you are not carefull (lift off oversteer anyone?) drive it with respect and you are rewarded with one of the best performing cars on the road today. Ride is a bit stiff but it's a worthy trade off for the dividends it pays in handling. The car pulls right up to my current 5k limit very strongly and interestingly I am beginning to like the style of the interior more then my previous WRX. It somehow seems more spacious (my personal opinion).
Just 300 more miles until 7k (rpm)
