dont listen to everybody about paying over sticker and they think they are gonna get better service, if you pay sticker the dealer is making alittle over $2000 profit not including holdback, thats more then enough and that does not include the reserve on the money you borrowed, that they get back from the bank...... so check with the dealer or get a lawer....you paid to much

Just to let everyone know the three day right of refusal does NOT apply to car dealers. The law was set up for door to door sales. I run a dealership so I hate to say it but legally you are SOL. I would also tell you that bringing a lawyer in is not a good idea. Dealers usually just dig in since they know the lawyer can't do anything. Your best bet is to talk to the general manager(NOT the sales manager). If he won't help call your local TV stations, they love to go after dealers. Sometimes the dealer will help sometimes not. Let me know if you need some help.

I paid 32.8K, but have the dealer right down the street, and they give me rides to back to work if needed when I bring it in for service. They also take care of me in every way possible since I allowed them to make some extra $. Something has to be said for this .... especially the fact that I know my car is fully taken care of when I drop it off ... and the dealership has no problems with me watching or helping the mechanic work on the car. So to me ... the extra 2K spent will pay dividends over time. Just another angle to look at it man ...

Actually here in Florida you have 3 days to back out of ANY contract PERIOD. Regardless of what is written on the contract itself be it mortgage, car, or a hand written agreement to buy your neighbor's lawn mower.

Everyone, PLEASE read your buyer's agreements thoroughly, regardless of how tired or how late it is! $30-$35K is a pretty sizeable chunk of change to just blindly sign on the dotted line. You live and you learn I guess.

Don't take it personally, turbonawd, just make sure you keep your EVO for a VERY long time and drive it into the ground so you make sure you get every penny out of it.

Do you have a link for this. I have looked on the web and every other state says it does not apply to autos.

My bad. Here is a link to current Floirda law:

http://doacs.state.fl.us/~cs/newcar_text.html

I guess it depends on the auto contract itself, but I do know that other types of contracts do have a 3 day cancellation (I recently refinanced my home and it was the case there and on my initial mortgage as well). I'll have to look at my previous buyer's orders, but I'm sure at least some of them did have so kind of "out" clause and/or deposit refund.

I've always been pretty good at making sure everything is spelled out in writing and that I review it prior to signing anything anyway.

Dude, most of us that bought an evo in first 1-2 weeks it was available paid over sticker. Now .... it's probably easier to find or haggle to MSRP due to dealer boycott issues and increased dealer competition (thanks to this site)! Still .... there are people that are still waiting for their color/options/price to become available ... while others are still awaiting delivery and we all know that it usually takes longer than initially expected. As for me ... I got the exact evo I wanted ... and I took it home as soon as they unloaded it from the truck. I also knew I wouldn't take this particular evo home that day if I insisted on paying MSRP ... so I got them down to what I offered, which was good for having one of the 1st available. Meanwhile ... I'm enjoying my evo NOW with a payment under $300 p/m while your drving a riceboy civic .... I think I go the last SUCKER!

Like you never got suckered into anything?... sure

Man, I know all about high pressure sales and car dealers in particular.... Those guys are pros. Almost anybody who walks into a dealership stands a very high chance of paying a lot more than they should for any car...

I got my EVO at below MSRP but I was definitely lucky... The dealer was Carmax and they have a policy of marking all their vehicles down to a "no-haggle" price. I also was there like white on rice wanting to buy the car... I also, got a good trade on my car (02 WRX) and paid cash for the balance...

This is not your everyday type of car buying experience though.. I've bought lots of cars in my life and I got taken on almost all of them . Even now that I'm older and much more experienced and I do a lot of homework before going shopping, It's still very difficult to get good deals and actually it's very hard not to get taken to the cleaners... As I said, those guys are professionals and the average person does not stand much of a chance. Anybody who says different is either very confused or just talking trash.
