Well, a contract is the only legal document that counts between buyer and seller.

Price negotiated by mouth is never official. If the dealership had the heart to contract it at $6k over, they can also deny the fact that a $2k markup was ever mentioned.

Look on the bright side, you're an owner!!

I paid 32.8K, but have the dealer right down the street, and they give me rides to back to work if needed when I bring it in for service. They also take care of me in every way possible since I allowed them to make some extra $. Something has to be said for this .... especially the fact that I know my car is fully taken care of when I drop it off ... and the dealership has no problems with me watching or helping the mechanic work on the car. So to me ... the extra 2K spent will pay dividends over time. Just another angle to look at it man ...
How is that any different from when I bought my 2k1 sentra for $16k (2k under msrp)? All dealerships work the same way basically you got took.

Now .... it's probably easier to find or haggle to MSRP due to dealer boycott issues and increased dealer competition (thanks to this site)! Still .... there are people that are still waiting for their color/options/price to become available ... while others are still awaiting delivery and we all know that it usually takes longer than initially expected. As for me ... I got the exact evo I wanted ... and I took it home as soon as they unloaded it from the truck. I also knew I wouldn't take this particular evo home that day if I insisted on paying MSRP ... so I got them down to what I offered, which was good for having one of the 1st available. Meanwhile ... I'm enjoying my evo NOW with a payment under $300 p/m while your drving a riceboy civic .... I think I go the last SUCKER!

So my civic makes me a riceboy. I like my car and its paid for. Get off your high horse.

Not at all ... your personality and rude fuc*in gestures do. I actually like Civics ... I just don't like people who make rude comments ... or the type of guy that blurts out the 1st thing on his mind without thinking it through. Look man ... the demand for these cars makes it easier for dealers to make more money on them ... cuz they will hold out for over MSRP as most can get it. I knew this ... and I wanted to take my car home that day. THEREFORE ... I was a little over-anxious, and I paid a little more ... even though I never paid sticker for anything, ever. Still, there are million ways to justify it ... but the bottom line is that I'm an owner, although at a little more of an expense than I would have liked ... still, there are many out there that paid much more $ ... so it could be worse. As for u ... u know I was just justifying it a bit and it's not right or wrong so watch yourself on the bullsh*t comments.

Buying your Sentra at $2K under still makes the dealership more than you think .... they probably buy those in bulk way below in invoice. I basically got took? Tell me this wise-***! Would I have been took if I bought a ****ty car below MSRP, or an awesome car a little above ... let's see ... I would take the great car, because I can make up the extra $ spent with resale value, a lower intererst rate, or my constant enjoyment of the car. But how good is it to get a great deal on car that sucks? I'm not claiming that your Sentra sucks ... because to each his own, but if I could trade w/ you or anybody else in the same situation with an inferior car, I would stay put bud . So keep your little sh*t comments to yourself because there are many ways to look at it ... and quit acting a cheap fu*k because you will always be treated like one.

Finally Have my Dream Car

After waiting for a decade for this EVO I finally got one on April 4th. I still find myself going to the garage at night to make sure its not a dream. I traded in my Loved Nissan Sentra SE with the SR20 modded, for this car. Its probably the ONLY car I would of traded for. I had a Eclipse GST in 1997 that I bought new, had it for two years and dumped it because I got closterphobic in it after a while. I have always loved the Lancer EVO since 92. I notice every article I read on this car it seems they do launches at 6000rpm, is the tranny beefed up enough to handle that? How good is that stock clutch anyway? My major question and after not finding a real answer on the search, I am wondering how good is the AWD system on this car. I know its no AYC but, is it as good as the Subies? I know Subies have some of the Best AWD vehicles out there how does the EVO compare? I have been a Mitsubishi fan for years. I persoanlly have owned Five Mitsubishi Vehicles: 97 GST eclispe, 99 Montero Sport, 00 Mirage, 02 Montero Limited, and now the EVO. My wife has the Montero limited which I feel is one of the BEST off road vehicles out there. I really feel I have two of the best vehicles. I am bieased to Mitsubishi, but when you have an EVO and a Montero how can you improve on that? I tell my wife, these will be the last cars we will buy for a long time. I am glad this board is here, and hope to meet many new friends. This is truly a special car. It really is. Eveyone that sees it says to me " so you didn't want the STi". That is like telling a Chevy Camero guy if he wants to buy a Mustang. Doesn't matter how fast a car is, but if your happy with it. Like I said the Lancer is my dream car. And to me, there is no better car. This is as good as it gets. Nice to meet you all............

I was the same way when I got my AWD Talon a few years ago.
It's just like a marriage, it can mellow and even grow sour with age.
I'm currently at the stage in my relationship where I am buying her augumentation (turbo, fuel system, engine computer.. etc.) so she will still satisfy me. I go out to the garage, but half the time it is now to curse at her when a part doesn't fit right or something breaks.

Enjoy the honeymoon.

The AWD sytem on the US Evo VIII and the one on the WRX are very similar. Functionally they are the same except the rear dif, on the Evo it is a mechanical LSD, the WRX uses a viscous LSD. Both have open front difs.
The US WRX STi will be coming with a DCCD - subarus answer to the ACD on the Evo - and the STi has front and rear LSD.

Oh, and 6K clutch dumps are bad on any car....

There are some detailed threads here regarding these topics. Here are a couple ... of course these questions that you ask are subjective but being that you are a Mitsu fan ... it sounds like you made the the one and only best choice. Congrats and cheers to u!

I dont' feel they are similar. We have a transfer case and transverse setup. The wrx has a Longitudinal setup. Beside the smalled weaker axles and drivetrain our is comparable to the STi. Also we have a 1.5 way limited slip rear . Viscous is mechanical. Active is electronical.

They are functionally the same. Both drive the wheels through a 50/50 center viscous diff and have open front and LSD rear Diffs. They perform nearly identical. How is that not simillar?

Anyways, a viscous diff is not mechanical - it is done using fluid and thus could be called hydraulic. The only contact between the parts is the fluid - there are no gears that mesh together, and thus no mechanical connection. The fluid is thermally active and heat causes the fluid viscosity to increase and provide the locking force between the plates in the diff. A mechanical diff uses pressure and friction plates to generate the locking force - this causes heat and wear. The 1.5 way LSD is done via friction plates. Torque biasing diffs do it through gearing, and thus are mechanical but are usually referred to as automatic torque biasing (ATB), or the brand name like Torsen or Quaife, to differentiate them from the simple mechanical diffs.

I thought it would be considered mechnical. Hydrolic would be a better word. Anyway functionally yes, only the rear is different. When you said similar i was thinking layout. My fault.
