Just got, buying, reviewing, thinking about a new Evo [Ultra Hyper Mega MERGE]
if you are thinking about the TSX, why not look at the IS300 too? the IS is a great handler and fun to drive. might lack SOME power (215hp if i remember right) but it's not lacking too much.
in the IS, the luxury is there, it has great handling, good response and overall fun factor is waaaay up there! go test drive the cars u're looking at and see what you like! good luck!

SilverRally, I would recommend you read my post comparing the Evo and the Sti. Even though I don't include the TSX in my comparison, my post should give you a reasonably unbiased idea of whether or not the Evo is the right car for you. Every board has it's share of biased, senseless opinions. The key is to figure out which opinons are balanced and which ones are not.

I really have no idea who would buy a TSX. There really seems to be no market fot this car. It isn't fast, it isn't luxerious, and ther are a lot of other cars out there that are a lot better for the same amount of money. The G35 is one, the IS 300, audi A4's have beautiful interiors and moderate power as well as some other things. The TSx also os FWD, something that seems odd and out of place in the luxery/near luxery market. Remember how Cadillac used to be so prowd of the fact taht they had a 300 hp FWD car? It flopped, and I think the TSX will to some degree too. Also, this car is a shared platform, and the engine is one that has been around for a while, so there is no development cost with that. Really there seems to be very little difference with other models except they are asking for a premium price. It really doesn't seem worth the money. In my opinion.
I for one am a car enthusiast first, and a Evo fan second. I think that the evo is an amazing car, but it is a
I am realistic when it comes to performance vs reliability. Being optimistic, I am going to purchase an Evo. My rules for owning an EVO are not to be mad if something does go wrong, and always keep a second car. I like the TSX also, but performance wise it just cannot compare. If I was looking for a smooth operator with a semi performance edge I would go with the G35 Coupe. I have test driven all of them. Its all up to you .... weigh your likes and dislikes then let your gut figure it out. After all of my indecisiveness my gutt says Blue by you EVO........
My list of new cars were
350z - 2 seater
Acura TSX - Not enough grunt
Acura RSX-R - Could only pay Cash - not enough performance
Acura 3.2 TL Type-s - too soft
Subaru WRX STI - Close, but not quite there
Mini Cooper S - Nice Go cart just a little too small
BMW M3 E46 (Used) Maybe Later
EVO - Just right amount of performance for the $$
Mazda RX8 - Not out yet - Still considering.

....
BADWRX, I agree with all your comments and I hope you will be as happy with your EVO as I am mine. Almost everyday I grow more appreciative of the EVO as a performance car and I honestly haven't looked back since.

It sounds like you are all over the map d00d (talking to the original poster). You are looking at luxury cars, commuter image vehicles, and ***** out performance cars.
Before you decide on a car, you have to get a full grasp on what you personally need/want in a car. No one but yourself can tell you what you need....not even a messageboard.
Once you fully understand your own needs, your buying decision will be easy.

I'd honestly suggest that if you've got 35k burning a hole in your pocket and you cannot decide whether an Evo or a TSX is better for you, that you should quickly go to the used car classifieds, find a Miata 1.6-litre in good condition for $5,000 to $8,000, buy it cash, and drive it for at least 3-4 months through summer.
After those 3-4months, you'll have had some time with this very real driving experience, in this roadster that will either make you grin with joy at the simple experience of driving, or grimace because it's not comfortable enough for your commute, doesn't coddle you as you go stoplight to stoplight, and doesn't seem to have an adequete sound system as you cruise along. Then sell the car for a slight loss and buy either the Evo or TSX depending on how much you enjoyed the Miata.
I'm being semi-serious here, too. If you cannot tell the difference between the TSX and Evo, you'll be wasting your money buying either of those cars right now. The Evo is a driver's car, there's not much else in it. And the TSX, while a competent vehicle, is by no means a pure experience with it's FWD and luxury amenities.
Cheers,
Paul Hansen

Im with everyone else around here, this is a big time apples and oranges comparison. If you want to stick with comfy luxury, for 35K you can get a well equipped G35 coupe/350Z, an Audi S4, even a damn Cadillac CTS.
The TSX is a really nice car, for a FWD, but is far from being in the same class as the EVO or any sport-luxury car on the market.
