Just got, buying, reviewing, thinking about a new Evo [Ultra Hyper Mega MERGE]
Get and keep both,my supercharged M3 is now a garage queen. The M3 is a totally different experience more brute force compared to the Evos high tech feeling.I prefer and purchased the Evo as a daily driver with track day potential.
I wish I could, but I can't keep both. that would bring it up to 4 vehicles between me and the wife and 3 would be mine (have a '94 GMC 3/4 ton pickup too). As it is, we only have 2 garage spots and I don't think I could have both and stay married.
The wife actually seems to support the Evo idea too, since it would have 4 doors which would make car seats much easier to deal with. We don't have any kids now, but if that's the attitude it takes to get an Evo...
Thanks for the input tho.

I started driving Evo 6s about 3 years ago; before that, I had a BMW M3 3.2l chipped to 324 bhp (from 308 bhp, was supposed to be 321 bhp) and a Schnitzer shorter final gear and Tarox 6 pot brakes.
There is no comparison between these cars: the M3 is a relatively quick luxury car, the Evo a much rawer driving machine. In stock form, you wont find it fast in acceleration, but once you've got an exhaust and are holding 23 PSI, it will be much better than an M3. Cornering and traction as well as braking are from another world compared to the M3!

I test drove an S4 about 2 years back and quite frankly couldn't wait to get back in my car. The S4 felt heavy and isolated from the road. The brakes were over-boosted, and the steering felt artificially heavy. It just didn't give me as much feedback as I was used to.

Every time I read that the Evo is "harsh" I just think about all the people who said that about the Bilsteins. Maybe they are, but that's the way I like it.

Hopefully an Evo doesn't understeer as bad as my All-Trac Celica did.

Looking forward to hearing what you think

I recently saw one on traderonline for $32k and was tempted!

Hi Andy
Get what you like
If you want the rawest, get an Evo 5 RS. Short ratio gearbox, no ABS, no AYC, no A/C, no power windows, and the lightest CP9A. A pure driving machine
If you want all the toys, get an 8. Stiffest body, best finish.
Heavier and AYC
The TME is nice and pretty cheap! If you want to keep it or as a collector, get a red one. If you just want an Evo to drive around in and change it in a couple of years, get something else. AYC on the 7 and 8 is better than on the TME, so if you're into drifting etc, dont get a TME.
