Yeah, I had looked at that before, since I like the look of the VII better than the VIII. But the fast that it's RHD, and I've heard bad things about them put me off.

You Sure you've looked into it? That $34,999 Price is stated as the "LHD US Legal" Price. And it also "Includes a 1 year parts and labor warranty, shipping to the US, all conversion costs, shipping duties, and taxes."

look at this link: http://www.evolutionimports.net/mode...ection=pricing

Yeah, theres actually some teams I know of that have EVO's as rally cars. They all run in the Canadian Rally Championship (and they are pretty damn good).

The first team has an EVO IV and is driven by Andrew Comrie-Picard, www.musketeerracing.com (I was 20 feet away from that EVO when they took that pic on the homepage, booyah!! )

Another team has an EVO IV as well, and is called "GLH Racing". Its driven by Sylvain Erickson. I don't have a homepage though (I think they are just a private team, not sure though). Here's a short page on them.

The last team has a really sweet EVO VI with something like $100,000 worth of mods in it, and it is owned by Frank and Dan Sprongl. I don't have a webpage for them either right now...

All of these teams are located in Eastern Canada, and if you get an EVO, it shouldn't be too far of a drive to get it serviced (if they will service your car)

Arrow Very close to buying a Evo. Car buying question.

I live in Georgia. There is this tax procedure when buying a new car that states that you only pay the difference between your car and the new car.

The new car is $29,300, and I owe $13k on my car. How much tax can I expect to have to pay?

If you dont mind me asking, where are you buying it for 29300? As for the taxt part I'm not sure. You're not trading in your 13k car are you?

Not sure about your state specific rules.....but most states have a similar program.

In general the amount you can expect as a tax break on your new car purchase should equal the trade in value of your current car. It has nothing to do with how much you owe...And it only applies (at least when I lived in PA) if you trade it in. So if you sell your current car privately, no tax break!

So if you got $14k for your current car, and the taxes in GA were 5%, you could expect to get a $700 tax break. So if you bought a $30k car..... (I think it works out like this)

$30000
- $ 1000(this is the $1k in equity you have over the amt owed on your current car if you got $14k for trading it in)
--------------
$29000

now add in the tax of 5%

$29000
+ $ 1450 tax amount of 5% (29000*0.05)
--------------
$30450

Now subtract the tax break of $700

$30450
- $ 700
--------------
$29750

This should give you a rough estimate......

Wow, I suck at math, specially this early in the morning...

The new car is $29,300 (before tax, title, etc...) I am getting $17k for my car, and I owe $13k on my car.

29300-17000=12300x1.05 (thats if your state tax is 5%)=12915+13000(what u owe the bank)=25915.

Talking Dilemma!

I just called the dealership where i have a deposit on a white evo w/o a sunroof that will be here in 3-4 weeks and theyt have a black one sitting on the lot with a sunroof. He said that i should stop by and take a look at it and maybe change my mind about the color choice that i made (white is my favorite).

what do you guys think?? Stick it out for the white or what the hell go get the black one this week?

I love the black one, and a sunroof is great man, I'de go for it, but that's me because I like black, if you like the white better, I say wait, I know the anticipation is probably killing you, but you might be happier in the long run if you get what you like.

I guess that the black will hide the dirt better than the white... Go get it and enjoy...

The Evo looks amazing in black - I actually like it better then silver. But, black is harder to keep clean & gets pretty hot in the summer.

on the whole sunroof thing... I ended up with one mostly cause I was unwilling to wait any longer. So far I am pretty happy with the sunroof. It is nice & quiet, I have no problem fitting in with my helmet, and it's nice on sunny days. Yes, it adds weight to the car in the wrong spot, but my Evo isn't a race car. It is a road car that I take to the track once in a while... I bought the car for the 99% (road time) vs the 15% (track time) in mind.
