according to CNN Money the '05 Evo will retain 53% of its value after 5years. Granted thats if you leave it stock.

Question Mitsu dealer trade-in (MN)

I'm due to be trading an excellent condition 2003 EVO VIII (18k miles) for an MR and I just got quoted $18,000 dealer trade-in value. am I missing something or are they just toking hard on the crack pipe at that dealership?

anyone else had any recent dealer quotes (I saw they were some ebay and private prices in this thread)

cheers

Seriously I'm not sure what you guys are talking about I just bought an EVO with 20k miles for 20.5k 1 year and 4 months after the person purchased it new for 29.5k. No the best resale in the world.

Dealers in my area (NY) use Galves for trade in valuations. They told me my Evo is listed at $22k but most dealers have offered me $21,500. When trading in a car in NY their is a tax saving on the new car from the trade in. In my case the savings is $1,500 so it is like their giving me $23,000.

I am selling the car privately for $22,500 so I have the flexibility of buying a car privately .. not from a dealer.

Thumbs up

Thanks alot for the sanity check.

Sounds more like what I was expecting because Kelly Blue book and The Black book are talking 22K upwards even though they're only guidelines. (Short of asking the customer to put on a gimp suit, this dealership sounds like like they're really trying it on)

cheers

A 2003 Evo 8 With 13-18k Miles Should Be About $23000 Trade In Value If Clean.
If Its Average Cond, The $21500.

If A Dealer Offers U Less Than That Tell The To Pound Sand!

That link(posted earlier on this thread) is by far the BEST link I have seen yet.

It really supports the points I have mnade time and time again that if you are selling your car too low, you are an uneducated SELLER.

And if you are the buyers getting these low 20's retail deals on the EVO than you are an educated BUYER.

Can we make it any more basic than that??

One thing stands true. The EVO is holding it's value VERY well!!

Don't settle for less

I like most of the rest of the evo fans have purchased these cars for the amazing performace. I have personal owned several high end performance cars in the past such as M3, Corvettes, S4 ect....... The other day I went into the dealership in renton washington and a sales person walks up to me and offers to buy my evo for 18k trade in value!!, I looked at the jerk off and told him that the price he queted my was a direct insult. He then proceeded to tell me about the new great options of leather and a extended warranty. I truely feel that there are so few of these cars released in the states that we can demand the values these car demand. I don't understand how a car such as the Evo can lose more than a 1/3 on year later, if we all were to do that-we all could afford to lease Porshas or more expensive cars for the money these people are offering to us. Remember how well the 93 and up madza rx7 held their value?? Surpa and a few other Rice cars??? Mits is not goning to be mass producing these cars for the us, therefor we can control the market if most of us agreed with the resale values. If we had bought a Lexus or Bmw for the same price as most of us paided for are Evos, We could very well be money ahead on trade in values for owning a car that is not even close to the preformance these cars offer. Just think about all the waiting and home work we all did before buying these cars, we can keep the market strong be not selling our cars. 18k doesn't even buy a Kia. Mits is not going to be importing tons of these limited produced cars and the demand will always be higher than most.

I also watched this sales person get yelled at by his manager for being a dumb a$$ for trying to low ball a car lover like myself, he probably works at Wendys now.

Eh, some people just need money RIGHT NOW for one reason or another. So, they have to let their car go for cheaper than they would like.

There's going to be quite a few shark dealers out there right now because there are many current EVO8 owners who are going to want to jump into an MR. Dealers are just waiting to feed from those owners hungry for the MR and take them on the trade in.

I mean, I'd love to trade-up to an MR, but I dont feel I would get a fair deal for my car.

I too am sick of seeing people selling their EVO's for 20k and 21k it makes me sick. They are stupid for doing so. Hell I took my car to carmax and they offered to buy it for 23k but I held out and traded it in and got 24k for it. ON TRADE IN!!! People are selling their EVO's for less than wholesale. It is sick.

We just bought our '05 from Renton Mits.... they need to get their act together or they will go the way of the dodo.

We were told bald face lies about delivery, needless to say they need to do some kissing up to make me fill out their survey with anything more than "not-satisfied".

Also there is a lot of people out there who bought EVO just following a hot magazine/f2f trendz. Now an affair is over, time to sell and get a new toy. Others just bought it not realizing what it is and are selling because og rough ride, high mainenance expences etc...

Be patient folks, let the market settle, with more and more EVOs crashed price will stabilize.
But being realistic we can't expect the same fate as rx7 or Supra unless stops making EVOs (keep in mind latest proposed WRC regulations) or stops selling them in US.

Very true about hte MR, but isn't it true that only 1000 of these cars are going to be made for the states??? It's a sad day when a Ford retains its value better thatn these.
