Service Engine Soon Light! Help!

My Service engine soon light just popped up today. I have a 06' Evo 9 and I recently put in an HKS Racing suction kit. Does that have to with anything? Plus the car idles a little low now, like under 1k RPM. What do I do?

It is a common occurrence among vehicles with Mass Airflow Sensors. Somehow the MAF reads a different amount of air than normal and it pops a CEL because the sensor is reading outside of its stock parameters. Sometimes they will go away with time and sometimes they won't. I would recommend checking over all of your connections (electrical and intake clamps) once again and getting the codes read to verify the issue. But I would not be too concerned with it if all you did was install and intake. Best of luck.

Another thing I forgot to note. It is normal for evos and all other vehicles for that matter to idle below 1000 rpm. Usually the base idle rpm is between 550 and 750.

Battery

Reset your ecu. (the negative terminal) for 5 mins. Let your TPS re learn its setting, then you'll be fine.

When I put my hks back in the day it did the same thing. Reset the ecu, let it sit at idle for 5 mins. Then I turned on a/c full blast with headlights the idle dipped real low and I just let it sit and the idle slowly came back.

If anything it's a quick and easy and free to try. But it fixed my code when I changed intakes.

Go to a local AutoZone or Advanced Auto and have them pull your OBD-II code (for free). This way we're not speculating on the problem.

Have the code pulled, otherwise we are just guessing what the problem could be.
Stock idle is around 850, so that's normal.
Did you plug the maf connector back in like SmurfZilla said? It can easily be overlooked.

Thanks for all the help, The engine light was gone the next day, I unpluged the negative on the battery to reset the computer, and everything works fine. And all the pipes and plugs are still connected. Even the MAF sensor. Thanks everybody.

And i think the light only popped up because of the MAF sensor reading a different amount of air than normal when it was stock.

My buddy had the same thing happen when HR first installed his. Once you get tuned with that intake, the code will stop triggering.
