Great vid! I'm glad someone pointed out that the STi was the EJ20 engine though. Makes for a better comparison, power wise, for the EDM, but not as relevant for the US. The outcome may still be the same even with the 2.5L seeing how that FQ-300 shot off the line
Please don't read anything into my owning a WRX I have NO brand loyalty, may the best car (for my purposes) win! Had I known, in 09/01 what Subaru, Mitsubishi, and Ford (hey, I admire the Cobra) had in store for they're '03 or '04 models I'd be driving a different car right know. Ah hindsight.
I hope no one here in the US tries that 100mph hairpin without the AYC that that model has. Does it bother anyone else on all the Topgear vids (GT-R, R32, EVO. STi come to mind) when they do those crazy powerslide demonstrations that they are on an VERY wide track? Don't get me wrong, it looks cool and that's the best place for them to do it, but it seems to give a false impression...yes, they don't spin and pull out of it, but if some idiot trys or thinks that'll help him/her on a road going in too hot will have, in the real world, taken out about 20-30ft of trees before they pull out of that slide. I guess the key word there would be idiot, but I worry for some of the "unenlightened."

EVO, STI driving from VA to CA
Yes me and my best friend are moving back to Cali. He has a blue STI and I have my white EVO. We are driving all the way from Washington, DC to LA through Rout 40. I have done it befor in a truck though. any ideas or thoughts, we have radar Detectors and we are ready so if any one wants to join the trip they are welcome but it will fast and quick. I am just warried about cops and Cali ***** gas.
wish me luck
I've driven that route a couple times. The scanner/CB idea is pretty good. If your cool to the truckers they can give you "smoky reports".
I would definitly be careful in Arkansas espically Little Rock and also anywhere in Texas those cops don't play and if your outta state and they catch you at 20 MPH or over chances are your gonna spend the night in jail.
North Car. and Tennessee you should OK, but I'd still be careful, you never know when your gonna run into a cop that wants to prove a point. Sounds like you guys are gonna have a pretty fun trip I love driving cross country. Since there are two of you guys, you could take turns scouting for speed traps. One of you run a couple miles ahead of the other keeping a look-out.
Have fun and be safe.
