Yeah... he's right... i have statefarm... and it's not in their comps as an Evolution... what they do is, classify it as a Lancer and use the MSRP to get the rates... my insurance is going to be $89/month with a 250 deductable with 100/300/100 coverage... State Farm owns... and on top of that... they'll cover your car to the fullest if by chance of vandalism or theft of aftermarket parts including stereo... and they have great customer reps in their teams...

I didn't lie to the insurance guy, but I didn't come right out and say EVO. I bought my early, so no one knew about them yet. They ran the VIN - and were still confused, so they just asked for the MSRP and shot me a quote....pretty low.

Got my first renewal on the car - went up like 30%. I think they figured it out!

Don't be so sure about that. My last car, a WRX was stolen with a $@#%load of aftermarket parts. While I do not have the claim check from State Farm yet, it seems I am going to get raped over some hot coals for the value of the aftermarket parts. Oh, and I had receipts for EVERYTHING.

Once I finally get an Evo I will have specific aftermarket part insurance.

no insurance will cover aftermarket stuff to any extant past stock without extra coverage like i bought and have to pay for. if you have a $5000 stereo system, and it gets stolen, they will pay for a STOCK system cost.

When I considered buying the EVO & STI I checked with my insurance company about the insurance. They were within $10 of eachother.

I did my quote online first. And they emailed me with 1840 a year with $500 collision deductable. I thought that was low considering I'm only 21 so I went in and got a quote again and made sure they had the EVO. It was actually 1746/year. I was happy. The reason the regular WRX is higher and the STI is even higher is that the EVO is a symbol 18 and the WRX is a symbol 20. The STI is even higher (but I don't know the symbol number).

8k worth of mods in State Farms universe =$190.00. Yes, that decimal point is in the right place.

And the only reason I even bring that up is so people do what I should have done:

GET INSURANCE SPECIFICALLY FOR YOU AFTERMARKET PARTS.

i just called state farm, since i have a evo RS on order and she said that the evo is not in there system, and i told them that it is one step above the ralliart. so she my qoute would be 830/6months. which is really good since the insurance for the evo is going up every day. recently i've gotten qoutes from 1200-1400/6months. and i'm 25/no accdents/clean record, but i live in the D.C. area.

I made sure my agent qouted me for a Evo because my first qoute seemed to low. About what you were quoted. Then when they got the right vehicle it was about twice as much.
I dont think it matters, because when you give the vin number it comes up as a tURBO lANCER / EVO
