I always wanted a turbocharged 6 speed car. The EVO shortchanged me with the 5 speed, but I think it is better than the STi. If they both came out the same time, I probably got the STi and just got a TBE, but now Im about to have a street EVO running 25psi 400whp with an upgraded turbo, ported head, and forged rods!!!

Can't complain!
no you can't i wish i had some more money for that stuff but i am saving for a house...

While Im at this subject, can the EVO rods be changed without dropping the motor. Logicall I think you can, but not 100% sure.

Kind of off subject, but you can do it if you have the head off.. I built up a 4g63 bottom end without lifting the motor.

Insurance: EVO vs. STI

I just called my State Farm insurance agent and the cost for insurance on the EVO is SIGNIFICANTLY less than the STI. This is making me lean way towards the EVO now, even though just before finding this out, I was set on an STI.

Male, over 9 years driving experience (25 years old), clean record.

Payment every 6 months.

$1000 deductible - comprehensive/collision/liability/uninsured motor vehicle:

EVO -- $482.26
STI -- $703.87

$500 deductible - comprehensive/collision/liability/uninsured motor vehicle:

EVO -- $532.65
STI -- $831.56

-----------------------
Thats almost a $600 difference per year if I choose the STI! This is seriously making me reconsider. Not to mention that the EVO is cheaper to start off with, so my monthly payments will be about $50 cheaper if I do a 5 year loan.

Basically its going to cost me about $100/month more to own an STI vs. an EVO. Yikes.

Just make sure they quoted you for a Lancer Evolution and NOT a Lancer OZ. some of those insurance agents don't know the difference.

I made sure my agent qouted me for a Evo because my first qoute seemed to low. About what you were quoted. Then when they got the right vehicle it was about twice as much.

It doesnt matter. When you insured the car, just make sure the pin number is correct. My insurance shows up as lancer OZ. hahaha, that was funny. Im 21, single and available. Just kidding, heheh, my gf would kill me if she sees this. Anyways, payment is every 6 months and I pay 360. Nice? Hell yea!!!
Ohh, 500 deductible too.

Heh, I would MAKE SURE they have the right car covered because not only can they charge you with insurance fraud but god forbid your car gets into an accident and they pay for the price of used OZ and you lost big time.
Just my $0.02

bump!! I was wondering...are there any ways of getting similar type of low end torque on the Evo's like the STi without sacrificing any of its high power out put at the upper part of the powerband?

on pump gas no, on racegas yes 25psi is possible and with upgraded turbo is more likely to give you 500whp

masterevo is right. Some insurance companies just have not updated or added the Evo to their database yet. So the system reads the VIN number and sees it as a regular Lancer. My Insurance card says 2003 Lancer. I called the rep, and he said as long as the VIN number is accurate, I am good.

Paid: $743 / 6 months from 21st Century
$1000 deduc; Uninsured motorist
23 yr old; clean driving record

GEICO, Progressive, Farmers quotes were close to $1500 / 6 months!!! (they had the EVo in their system and it recognized it as a High risk rally car, and hence the higher premium).

Try 21st!
