Very American - though everybody in Japan thinks I'm European!?

The cheers is due to the fact I'm been surrounded by Australians, pretty nearly the only ones with the guts and desire to own sporting cars in Japan and even see the track with them. That and most of my work is with Europe, which is why I also spell everything in European english (tyre, colour, programme). I'll have to concentrate to actually write in American english now.

As for the cheers, I'm just trying to be polite. Unlike a lot of people, I take these discussions and communications seriously - I'm going to treat all of you like you are in front of me, on the phone or whatnot.

Cheers,

Paul Hansen

Remember to point the camera in the right direction, out the front of your windsheld.
Your kidding right? Subaru owners modding their cars? Have you every read a thread on nasioc.com? It reads more like a hand wringing investment counselor forum. Your lack of knowledge of the 4G63 is showing..... nts nts nts... Once you get that technological marvel of yours over 350hp bring a cardboard box and broom..... you don't want to leave a mess all over the track....

But what your saying is that he knows I know that he knows I read Car and Driver and modded my EVO? And I don't know that he has modded his STI? Right? But what he doesn't know is that I knew he knew he modded his STI; therefore I added more mods that he doesn't know about so.... I win again.....

Actually I'm just tired of the endless mag racing and argueing over the numbers and decided to chime in and have some fun too! I stated before, I'm more interested in the feedback from owner drivers than mag articles. The folks who are on the fence should drive both cars and pick the one they like best whether it be for gadgets or gizmos or stitch color or name or "odd day-even day" whatever. If you can't test drive an EVO at a dealership, then just post in this forum where you are and there is probably an EVO owner nearby willing to take you for a spin.

I'll be so glad when the STI's arrive.

All I know is that I am glad that both cars are here and I can afford to have one. Although like many here I prefer certain aspects of the Evo! (not just cause I own one but looking at both I see myself in a Evo more as far as styling, and I might make split decision turns as well).

Me no likey STi..
Me likey EVO...

Me no likey mods..
Me likey mods..

Me have small pee-pee..
Me have LARGE pee-pee..

WHATEVER!!

I really think that this Evo VS. STi thing is dumb...The facts are rolling in and they are favorable to the EVO, and personal preference will ALWAYS be the basis of an argument as to which car is the right one..

FWIW...I always preferred the Mustang to the Camaro or Firebird, and I always felt the M3 ...was THE German car to beat on the race track.. remeber the back and forth competitions those cars saw??!..but that is OLD and ancient news..

Face this:

Who stepped to the plate FIRST with the car that is the one to beat... That's right, the EVO..

Who CAN't beat it based on initial reviews??? Thats right, boys..the STi..

Let's face it, while Our car may not be perfect, it is the QUINTISENTIAL sport sedan to beat for 30 grand, and is the ENVY of anyone on the road that knows what an EVO is..

I got three thumbs ups tonight, and had some dude on my *** that I SMOKED...
By the time he caught up to me, he couldn'y believe my car was as fast as it was, and gave me a thumbs up which felt good...

Aw...shucks...I guess that could happen in the Scooby, too..

Oh well!

I would LOVE to have either of these 2 cars (and in fact DO own an Evo), but there is a definite point to the HP being cheaper to add than redesigning a suspension system. That IS, I believe, a valid advantage for the Evo as thus far, it does seem the Sti's got the power advantage and the Evo's got the agility advantage. I think either way, though, we're talking very small differences so I'll take one of each, please.

BTW, Paul was here WELL before Shiv was (in response to someone thinking Shiv was the originator of 'cheers'). Yeah, I know, who the hell cares .

Cheers,

RC

**edited by SC...No personal attacks please!** Please do some research before you speaks. Subaru is rated #1 oversea as reliablility, over Honda and Toyota, and was NEVER rated above Subaru in any country. And talk about tech...which car doesn't have AVCS, DCCD, front LSD, and super sport ABS with G senor. Don't flame me, I love both car, just tired of Speedlimit's bs.

Man people honestly need to just realize that both cars have percs and their downs. Making them basically even in the long run. One has power, when other has handling. Now if people want to whine and shutter on which one is better and modifiying the key rule to these two is that, whoever has the deeper wallet now will be faster. But damn I am happy with the results of both. America is going to be a little more exciting.

The demi-graphics of people that will own this car A)won't have the money to pump it up as much as you think and B) it will cost more to make similar gains that you can get out of an Evo. Don't ask me how I know this I just have some inside info on the STi and the problems people are going to face with it. They're both great cars and you can't go wrong with either but come mod time I'd put my money on an Evo in a race between the two. Just a FYI.

But I stress my point again. With "LESS" money than a stock STi the Evo will be faster in all areas. So when you start dumping more money into the STi the Evo spends a little more to make it faster. I'm almost positive it's going to be easier and cheaper to modify an Evo than the US STi. In fact I'd bet people will find that the Jap spec STi is actually going to be better in the long run. I just have a bad feeling about this US STi. Not hating cuz I thank Subaru with all my heart for making the WRX such a success that it led to the Evo coming here. I think the STi is a great machine for what it is but I feel it's going to be limited.

I don't agree, so are you saying all S4 guys are poor and have no $ to mod their car because they already spend all their $ on the car itself? If this is your logic, then WRX is the better for the bucks.

you, good sir, are full of crap and are way too full of yourself and your 'EVO DOMINATES' mentality

those two statements quoted above can testify to that...

the STi is the perfect competition for the EVO, STOCK vs. STOCK numbers across the board will show that the EVO does NOT dominate, out handle the STi. Get your head out of your a$$ and realize that they are a good match. The preference will be up to the driver.

One motor trend article comes out and now the STi would 'take a TON of $$' for it to match the EVO

i feel for you when you line up against one at the light and get disappointed
Sorry i already drove my ver VII STI long enough tio know that the EVO is 10 time s the driver's car - its just an amazing well balaned and stopping road racer

STI - is soft - vauge - weak and flexing - to a presision tool - - but nice for fishtailing about on off road forests

Face it the EVO is the KING !

It may handle good but why's it so slow? It's like in stock WRX territory.
