Well more than slightly, I actually think the MotorTrend quote sounds like a transposition of facts. I mean, the STI's are NOT more bolstered than the Evo. And the Evo 5 speed has less aggressive gearing than the STI. This isn't subjective. It's simply wrong. Can anyone scan it?
I agree, sounds like they messed up and transposed a lot. seems unlikely that 0-60 for the EVO is quicker than the STi. All the UK car mags show about 4.6 for the 2.0l prodrive pakage v 4.9 to 5.3 for thier EVO VIII. Our EVO has better gearing for launch, but seems they got their numbers a bit up their but.

That's a pretty sad 1/4 mi time for the Evo. Even on 91 octane I think that's slower than it should be. Maybe not but seems so. Scary thing is if they only ran a 96mph trap with the Evo when we all know it's capable of 101-102 on avg what the hell does that STi run!!!!? That car will break in to the high 12's stock and that's friggin quick. One thing that is nice to see though is the fact that every publication and heresay has said the Evo handles better flat out. I guess it's no surprise the STi is faster heck it better be. Time to upgrade to have the best of both worlds =D

Where's my Ralliart!!!?

wow you evo owners show true sportsmanship...especially with Speedlimit's post on enjoying a great time in a car enthusiast's history. I'm quite shocked to see these posts, I was expecting to see flames and insults to STis etc..

Anyway I'm still undecided on which car to get.. I want to see the real STi before I decide. Kudos Evo owners!

those evo #'s are f'd to say the least... namely the 1/4 and 0-60... regardless it's nice to see the article stayed subjective and stated the pros vs cons of both cars... but still those #'s were all wrong...

The little loss in accelaration is easily made up with a few simple bolt ons for the EVO to get it into the mid 12's for about $1,000 or less

However - it would take a TON of $$ to get the STI to break as good or handle as good as the EVO - (if ever)

The EVO is just a better driver's car

you, good sir, are full of crap and are way too full of yourself and your 'EVO DOMINATES' mentality

those two statements quoted above can testify to that...

the STi is the perfect competition for the EVO, STOCK vs. STOCK numbers across the board will show that the EVO does NOT dominate, out handle the STi. Get your head out of your a$$ and realize that they are a good match. The preference will be up to the driver.

One motor trend article comes out and now the STi would 'take a TON of $$' for it to match the EVO

i feel for you when you line up against one at the light and get disappointed

It is nice to see the Evolution was the best they had ever tested in TWO catagories. The sti can't claim that in even one catagory.

Kcl211,,,,, you wanna see a flame,, I have on for you.

If i had to choose between the sti and the evo i would buy the evo 100 times over again. The sti is butt focking ugly, It looks like a pig with a post office mail drop box for the hood. The gold wheels scream rice boy It is just plain ugly. Now if they built it in the wagon, it would be a different story. I love the looks of the evo8, speacially without the wing, like mine. It is a hot looking 4 door rocket. I dont really care if the sti will takes the evo off the line and 1/4 mile, I just dont want to launch my car hard. I want mine to last. And as far as Secert Chimp said, all this "ringer" **** needs to stop, until someone proves it is different from the stock evo's we all have.

Well how is that for a flame? Kinda soft I think.
One more thing The next time I see the sign off with "cheers" in it im going to puke all over my keyboard!!!!! Please get off the cheers thing, its soooo Gay!

Also someone scan the issue of the Motortrend, i dont have mine yet. I think it is soooo funny that they had the evo beating the sti in a straight line, this will just even out the bragging rights, if you choose not to race one on the streets.
Also my car feels like it has 40 more horsepower today. Its rainy and cold/ damp dense air..... I love this weather!!!!!

I too have been wondering about the use of this trendy little word that has spread and multiplied like rabbits among the forum members. Originally, it seemed to only be Paul Hansen, which was okay, but many copycats have arisen.

It's a Brit salutation.....that is pretty much the most common word they use to end their posts. Go to www.minimania.com for proof! huhu

Silvrevo, that wasn't a rant or a flame! It was more of a ramble...

Well, if Paul Hansen is from north England, he should begin his posts by writing "Hey up." (Inside English joke).

I find "cheers" a lot less annoying then Secret Chimp talking about himself in the third person at the end of almost every post.

atlvalet~ who's dated two girls from England in his time. They were the bollocks.

One of the reviews on the STi said that small children could get stuck in that hood scoop.
