Legal to drive without a dashboard?

I'd much rather pull it myself than have techs pull it.

I will definitely be unplugging my airbag until this gets done. Don't need anyone getting fcked up in my car. I've seen some of the pictures, its pretty gruesome. Aluminum shards stuck in peoples chest and forehead.

Another air bag recall update

How are people unplugging their airbag? Can you just unplug the sensor under the seat?

Harris Mitsu by my place said they can get me in there in about 2 weeks, takes them about 3 hrs.

They mentioned that it is best to remove mods that might affect removal/install beforehand. I only have two gauges on the steering column but hopefully they don't destroy those.

I was also told the bag in the wheel is not on recall yet but have heard that could be added too. Tempted to wait it out and see if they add that to the recall too so I don't have to do this crap twice.

I'll put an aftermarket wheel on before I deal with getting the driver bag replaced..

If they send a recall for the other airbag after some have already had theirs changed, then thats just bs on their part. Its almost like they should at least give us some form of compensation like a free oil change something.

Really? Stop with the entitlement attitude.

Boohoo, I had to take my car in for two recalls (FREE stuff) so it wouldn't kill me and my occupant in a crash, someone owes me something.

No.

I wouldnt call it free stuff, theyre costing you your time with two separate recalls. In my case its not so bad but some of these people have to drive hours just to get to a dealer. They screwed up in my opinion.

Its like starbucks saying the syrup they put in your coffee contains ebola, but its ok we are gonna give you a free stomach pump. Dont expect us to give you a free brownie though.

Another air bag recall update

Since my boost gauge is on my steering column do you think I need to remove that beforehand?

Its a completely different situation. Mitsubishi is not in control of the airbag manufacturer. And it is free stuff. An hour of my time to take the car to the dealer, and pick it up when its done does not warrant a free oil change.

I received the recall notice too. I may just unplug the airbag rather than deal with the dealer. My E85/pump gas switch is in my glovebox. I'm having visions of idiots ripping up my dash, wiring, and gauges. Topped off by resetting my ECU.
If I inplug the airbag, will I have an SRS warning on my dash?

Anyone experience anything w/ the dealer saying they won't touch the car cause the stock MR gauges (boost, oil, battery) gauges has been moved?

I don't think its a good idea to unplug the airbag like some of you guys say you are doing. I'll probably wait about a month or two before I bother making an appointment though.
