Those 2 metal tubes connect to the evaporator core in the dash (AC refrigerant) (is it item 1 & 2?)

The other 2 tubes (rubber hoses) are for the heater core (radiator fluid)

Both heater core hoses connect in the engine bay, heater core tubes stick through the firewall. Both lines from the A/C connect in the engine bay, same story as above. I tried figuring out what I'm looking in your photograph but I can't. Please say where the camera was and at what angle it was held when the picture was taken.

If you flip your picture 90 degrees to the left, you will have the strut bar on top and the intake on your left side of the picture.

Lol, I thought I was looking at something under the dash.

On my 8 that area is bare firewall. From the factory, far to the right in the rotated picture and hidden in this view, is an unused hole through the firewall used by people installing accessories. I assume the big hose houses wiring that uses this hole. There looks to be several small hoses that I can't identify.
