Opinions are opinions, and thats it. Im not really mad at all, even though those little angry guys at the bottom of my post kinda show that,lol. I just get annoyed when people dont consider all the facts. You brought up another good point, that those pics are just spy photos. About your comment with the man on the moon, a company will do what it can in the relm of affordablility. Perhaps one solution is cheaper than the other. Either way, my whole point was to address people complaining, would they rather have a front mounted intercooler or the old front end? As I stated in an earlier post, I hope people think its ugly. Less on the road, and a cheaper EVO 8 for me. And thats my OPINION.

 

Let me make my self perfectly clear...

I have ZERO problem with people expressing their opinion on the car here. If you think the car is ugly, fine, whatever, but when someone pops out of the shadows every once and a while just to say "that **** is ugly as ****"....I have issues. I'm registered on i-club, but I don't post there just to say that the rex is ugly. You don't do that to people who've put that kind of $$$ into their cars. Show a little tact fer christ sakes.

There are a lot of people on this board that have a pretty hefty sum of $$$ invested in this car, including me. If I went up you after you had just bought a $30,000 vehicle, and said your car was ugly as sin, you'd probably be a little angry too.

I'm not pissed off at anyone, I'm not even angry yet, but come on guys, if you wanna rip on somebody's car go to the local rice shop....don't do it here. If you are going to do it, try to do it in a decent way....say you don't really like it, and leave it at that. I'm just a little disturbed at the lack of recognition for the other people on the board. When someone attacks my car....they attack me too.

Man...this is getting kinda out of order, I don't think Tristar and Hooby did anything wrong except expressing their feelings about people coming on here and crying over a different grille.
Tristar made a very good point when he said that the reason why the grille was changed was so that the Intercooler could be where it is now and the crash tests could be passed.
It kinda boggles me so many people are, and yes i will say it, *****ing about a grille. It's like that's the only thing on the car.
I mean, everyone is entitled to their opinion and if you don't like the car then so be it, one less buyer. But really, let's be honest if the reason youa re buying this car is because of the grille, i think you should go home, study the car and reconsider what you want.
It's no wonder we see kids out there today with tons of bodykits and glaring colors on their cars. I'm not necessarily saying it's bad, to each their own, but it just proves once again what kind of people are *****ing about the damn grille...
I can honestly say the car is nothing like its predecessors but hey change is good. I think it's a matter of getting used to it. The car is even out there yet and people are bashing it because of a grille.
Enough rant people, if you want to bash it because of the grille, then go ahead call and tell them they made a mistake in changing the front fascia and tell them you will go for subaru's STI. Really you should be calling them and complaining because they haven't said anything yet and are making us crazy.
To conclude, Ive looked at the new WRX and in my opinion the VIII looks better, if the STI is anything likethe new WRX, then I think y'all are not gonna find the good looking car you want.

 

Good job on the photo shop Mr. AWD! Personally I like the way the car looks. I might not be completely sold on the front end but I find it's growing on me, and maybe even the spoiler too.

Here's a different question- What do you think the quality of the interior will be like? We're getting recaro seats (what ever they are) but I really won't be happy with a cheap plastic looking/feeling dash. If this is going to be halo car they better represent!

Again, as far as looks go, I prefer the Evo slightly more than the new pics I'm seeing of the Subie but there is also significantly more room in the Evo. Thats important to me too.

 

Im thinking the EVO will have the same interior as the regular Lancer. I mean every EVO in the past has used the Lancers (Mirages) interior. That used to be a badthink, well in my opinion. But now I think the regular Lancers interior is quite nice for being an economy car. Interior alone I think the Lancer is the best econo box out there right now. I doubt Mitsu will drop the money on a new interior, even if the EVO is the new halo car.

We're basically getting the performance of a $40,000+ car. We can't have everything we want. Personally, I liked the interior of the VII....I wouldn't mind seeing that interior.

I just hope the intereior is nice and plain - the US Lancer is fine, as is the WRX. I would rather Mitsubishi spend the money on great seats like the previous Evos.

 

some things folk might be missin...

-with luck, there will be an aftermarket grill to replace the pontiac vibe'y one with something more evo 6/7ish.

-thank god that the altezzas that showed up in some of the evo 8 spy shots don't appear to be for real.

-everyone here should be thanking jebus that us USDM folk will be getting not only the WRX and the evo, but also a turbo lancer and the WRX STi. options are good, folks! imho, the wrx is one of, if not THE, best all around performance car for 24K; the evo/sti will have very very high bang for buck value at 30K.

-the semi-consensus i've read is that the evo is generally a better sheer performance car, but the sti makes a better daily driver; somethin to think about for the folk who don't visit the track every weekend. me, i'd be stupid happy with either car, but i think i can get invoice price on a subie (pry not the STi mind you, but invoice price on a wrx makes for a pretty sweet deal)

-if you haven't seen the pics of the interior of the STi, check em out. might not be recaros, but the seats look pretty damn awesome, as does the interior in general (the blue gauges in particular)

-try not to get opinions confused with statements of objective fact. "the evo 8 ain't my thing" is different than "the evo 8 is ugly as fsck'.

so you believe a mid level turbo cedia type mitsubishi is coming here? competition for the wrx were as EVO and STI is seperate? Would be nice, even if it does mean the eventual phaze out of 4g94.

 

i shouldnt have said it as fact, but yeah, it makes a hell of a lot of sense for mitsu to do that - all the people who want an evo, but either cant afford it, or miss out because of limited quantity.

but really, the base wrx and the evo shouldn't be compared... they are not exactly in the same class, imho. just a question of whether i want to spend 25k or 30k, for me (assuming the STi is 30k too)

I rarely come by because I work and I'm a busy person. Maybee I dont have 6 hours a day like you do to go on a forum and dream, fantasize, and drool over a car. There are more important things than that.

Second, "Grow Up???". I suppose voicing or in this case (typing) my opinion is immature? What ****ing planet are you from? I think YOU need to do some growing up. You're attitude is worse than a girl with her period.

The truth of the matter is...the VIII's looks are ugly. Thats MYYYY opinion and I'm entitled to use it. If you dont like it, tough **** buddy. Dont come on a forum, cause this is all about opinion. Besides, this is a forum where we can talk about a car, and im simply stating how they did a number on the front end.

Although you could've said it a little more constructively I couldn't agree with ya more NYC_EVO. I'm pretty sick of Hoobys *****ing like a little girl because he has a hard time seeing what the rest of us see and any car designer in the country would also aggree with. I don't think he wants to accept it as ugly.
There is hope for people like you Hooby. Its called the Aztec and it looks Beautiful. Also it has so much function over form you just may be the next Hugh Hefner. This is a forum for opinions and a rummor thresd about a car that hasn't even gone public yet so if everyone says its ugly except you then maybe we should all start *****en about how we are REEEEAAAALLLLY (oh god that hurt) sick of people praising an ugly car just so when they get it they can pretend its not that ugly.

P.S. I think it's you who seriously needs to grow up a little and realize that they're just opinions.
