Alrighty, please forgive the ignorance if I've missed something. Reading Al's post he suggests he hopes to provide a base tune with which it may not be necessary to toy with. I have a buddy with an evo IX and he's been looking for a good base tune that he can "set and forget" if you will. Others on this thread have suggested that this may not actually be the way to go for those who aren't too familiar with tuning their vehicles (and I have no experience at this at all, neither does he). My question is this: would most agree that the base tune provided here should still offer significant gains over a stock IX tune, or is there an easier "noob" flash/tune or pretune that one would suggest over this? For the price, this seems like a great deal - the cost of the cable + tune, and the time it takes to get the roms and reflash. But I'd also like something thats both within his scope of understanding, and offer decent gains without detriment to the car. Thanks for the patient answer everyone.

in my experience from having a friend get his base tune from Al....the results are in my opinion well worth it. I mean your paying very little for a safe tuning solution that requires no maintaining or worry about installation. I may post up that im still waiting but im not angry, just anxious to get my car flashed. All in all, great product espeically if the turn around time turns into what im sure it will once Al catches up on the initial Demand.

So in short, yes it is well worth the money. Safe reliable performance upgrade.

Boozeup&riot, for your friend, I believe it would be best to just do a regular mail-in flash for $199. Mail the ECU overnight, then it gets flashed and mailed back overnight, and you don't have to deal with the EcuFlash and self-flashing stuff.

27 psi boost

I just got my map from Al and the boost is set at 27 psi all the way, my car is stock except DP, test pipe and exhaust. Is it safe to run 27 psi boost? Thanks
