Good write up. Jumped into mine this morning and have to say that this thread is what gave me the last bit of encouragement I needed. Im in the process of taping the relocated bundles together. Just need to order some sleeve and she's all set. I already had the harness loose and labeled (planning for this) from when I had the trans out, but Id say this is a 6-7 hour job tops.

I found that you don't necessarily have to cut/solder anything. I unloomed the factory harness up the point right before it hits the frame rail and just separated each wire the best I could individually up to that point. As you said there are a couple that are tangled, but I was able to "hide" the tangles in the main harness trunk so I didn't have to cut anything.

Just wanted to toss that out there for others that may be nervous about cutting/soldering.

edit: this is the sleeve Im planning to buy. According the to chart at McMaster, polyester has a larger temp range than polyethylene. Its also cheaper per foot, but more expensive per 25'. Not sure how accurate the pic is, but it looks like it may have more overlap than the link above.

Its not linking straight to sleeve. But Im looking at the braided wrap around.

The picture on McMaster is pretty accurate for that braided sleeve. That's what I have as well and around 1/4-1/3 of the circumference overlaps.

I got 6' each of 1/4" ,1/2", 3/4" and 3' of 1" and 1.5" on the way. Should be on my doorstep Monday. I <3 McMaster. lol

Mine is ready for sleeve, then reinstall and cross fingers.

so jealous of the OP engine bay. every time I have get in there and do something like a clutch job, I become infuriated with the rats nest of wires and clips and brackets and crap. If I ever find myself pulling the entire car apart, I'll follow this for sure. good work!

Hey Blue91Lx,

Just wanted to drop you a line and say thanks for posting all this info. It gave me the motivation to attack my own wire tuck. I incorporated most of your information into my project.

Check it out below. Thanks man

Noob question...but can you do an engine tuck with a mini battery in the bay still and have it look clean?
