Actually, ISO was set at 1600 and I tried some at 800. I had someone else with much more experience with SLR cameras just take some more pics so better ones will be posted shortly.

Overall it looks very promising, just some bugs that need to be worked out.
The stock lighting is done by only three incadescent bulbs (there are also individual lights for the idiot lights), that give off a yellowish light, hence why the gauges with the stock lighting lock more aqua then blue and that the EVOLUTION VIII is really dim. The EL Wire Lighting is a pure white light and the wire can be mounted directly against the back of the gauges and wrapped around whereever you'd like, so that's why the pictures with the EL wire lighting appears much brighter and the color is more true--blue in this case. I've ordered the EL Wire and inverter, so I'll be able to take "in car pictures" as soon as it comes in. Once we are able to get the color more consistant the lighting will appear to be more consistant as well.

From the beginning we have been determined to only produce these if we can provide a high quality product at a reasonable price and will only release and sell them when we achieve that goal.

Wow, great pics!!

Two things:

1. I'd like to change my request to the exact gauges shown (Blitz style, blue, CF)

2. Is it possible to change the Check Engine icon? I'd like to put some custom text there, hehe.

Peace.

Whoa I just went through this whole thread and it is amazing the progress you guys made in a reasonable amount of time. Great work I'm certainly interested in one of these. The Blitz style with black face and blue at night. I can't wait for any updates,

Wow, even I have to say these worked out better than I thought. Haha, I've been staring at these all the time, but seeing them installed is a much better perspective than just seeing them on a cluster.

I will have a few other sets ready to send to Emulous by Monday. Just had lots of unexpected stuff pile up this week.

Ludikraut, the designs are fixed now so no customization of the design is possible.

I personally like everything about pic # 3 , but with the tach changed to pic # 5. Only the tach. I like the tach lines a bit more closer together.

Could you do it like that? I'd buy one from you for sure!

I don't see a problem to that at all, you want the Blitz style gauges for everything with the exception that you want the tach to be in the Greedy style. Is this correct? You also want the illumination of the night time lighting to be blue for everything that is in the Blitz style, and red for the Greddy style tach. Is that correct?

Either way, that won't be a problem.

okay, I have some good news about the EL wires. A few simple tests indicate that the EL wires can be dimmed by changing the supply voltage. After studying the Evo service manual in depth, I can also say with a good certainty that the inverter can be simply spliced onto the current cluster wiring and work fine with the stock rheostat that controls all the interior light levels.

For those that want to know more, here's a quick howto. The instrument cluster bulbs are powered through pin 38 and 40 of connector C-02 which is the blue connector at the back of the cluster. All you have to do is remove the stock bulbs, splice the positive wire from the inverter (red) to the wire on pin 38 and the negative wire to pin 40. I'll do a better write-up with photos later once I convince a local Evo owner to try it.

Right now, I'm trying to contact the EL wire company to see if I can get a good price so that I can include them with the gauges when we ship them. But they haven't replied to my emails the one time I called them I go an answering machine. Other than that, I'm working on some instructions for the EL wires.

I'm also trying to find way to shorten the time to make one set of gauges. But the lighting is the only thing holding things up so far.

Question for everyone, would it make a big difference if you had to order the EL wires youself? Other than waiting for another package in the mail, you have the freedom to choose a color EL wire and I might be able to make these gauges faster if everyone got their own color wires.

That would not be a problem at all. This would also allow the end user to customize further....suppose they change their mind before you ship them their gauges, then it doesn't matter because they can mix and match and see which colors they prefer. As long as you would inform people as to where or even just what they needed to order I'm sure that would be fine. I'm so excited, thanks for the update

Ordering our own EL light wouldnt be a problem as long as we know exactly where to place/glue/attach it on the back of the plates. I assume that would be part of the instructions.

I don't have a problem with ordering my own EL wire. Of course I would prefer if it were included but it's no biggie. If the instructions describe how to install it with the converter needed I wouldn't mind ordering it myself.
