The Official Wide Tire Thread
I hope all the folks running super wide tires are actually fast enough to need them. Almost seems equally as dumb as the hella flush movement to have an evo running 295's that only drives on the street. Just sayin....
I believe the X wheels are 18x8.5+38. You should be able to run a 255/35 tire with no problems, but I suspect many 255/40's would rub in the rear. That little extra height will catch your rear fenders on compression.
Also keep in mind not that some tires run a bit wider than others. Many performance tires, like dunlop star specs run wide.
Imo, go with a 255/35. If you really want to stick with a XXX/40 but want something 'larger', you might just be better off runnin something like a 245/40 star spec.

school zones dont have a lot of grip with all the paint marks. i need as much tire as possible!
Year/Make/Model: 2005 TB SSL
Wheels: 18X9.5 Rota Grid +20 (5mm spacer front)
Tires: 255/35/18 Dunlop Direzza Star Specs
Suspension: Swift Sport Springs
Alignment: -2.2f/1.2r camber
Fenders Rolled or Cut: Front: None, Rear: rolled flat, slight pull toward seam, rear bumper bolt relocated (JDM)
Other Body modifications: Front: "Evodave type" fender mod
Advice: 1 afternoon = no rub

I want to fit 265 Dunlop Star Specs (best street tire ever imo) next but I'm a little worried about some rear rubbing. I don't rub at all at the moment. Anyone have experience with that or similar and my offset? I don't want to pull the rear fender much and I'm thinking they'll fit as is. Couldn't find any people running that wide with my offset and they all go crazy camber
. I still have a little room after the pull and work I did on the bumper. Any help? Pics?
Please just don't tell me to get some wheels that fit

The only time I drive my car on the street is when I'm going to the track.
does 3 national championships count as fast enough?
Welp, my codriver and I did a parking lot pull job at the El Toro Pro Solo and got 18x10.5 +22 w/ 285/30/18 A6s to fit in the rear. I don't even wanna take pics of the fenders they look so bad. LOL. Probably would've been fine if we'd had a heat gun. Looks like I'll probably be going with Voltex rear over fenders at some point in the future. Kind of goes against my whole philosophy of keeping the rear track of the car narrow though...
Hahah I know a lot of you here track your cars. But I am getting the feeling a lot of people are putting on huge tires for looks alone and that is what my post is referring to.
kinda like how i hate girls with no ***.
Even if someone was making stock power and had a 295 setup would it be a waste? c'mon it's an evo, not a 100hp civic.
