Believe what you want to. Proof is in the pictures. Aluminum caliper brackets are much more prone to failure (lower tensile stress than steel, easy to overtighten) and anodizing goes from black to purple when stuff gets hot over and over and over again.
Thanks for sharing is that a stasis caliper? Or the mono6 series?
Stasis never made a caliper, they bought them from Alcon. That cracked aluminum bracket is either STaSIS or SPM... Alcon and AlconKits make them from steel...
I do 4-5 20min sessions with no issues, though I admit I'm not on r-comps.
To be fair though, brake performance is determined by a ton of factors, not only how fast you are, but your brake pressure profile, track config, how much cooling you have, etc...

very true. i was just referring to when driving on street tires, i drive a lot different than on r-comps. i can brake MUCH harder on the Hoosiers.
however, i don't know that i've ever went into ABS during braking, no matter which tire i use. i usually keep it right on the threshold (i can feel/hear the tires wanting to lock).
the real problem here is that the universe does not revolve around OP.
1, you want bigger brakes. let's stop debating about whether or not you need them, who cares?
2, there are bigger brakes available, but not from a US source
3, get them from overseas/stop *****ing/get an e46
Since these twinkletoe ballerina driving instructors in the thread are too busy getting high off each others "stock brakes forever" pixie dust.
I've decided that none of them will take me up on the offer of the cost of the BBK going into driving lessons with them if they can make an elusive 1:16 at my local track. Sooooo.....
Got some alcon usa spec shipping out but problem now is even volk usa is too lazy to respond to something that can clear 435mm+ in 18 inch when the first post obviously shows it's doable with the e46.
I think post #18 sums this up quite nicely if a stock evo fades imagine one with any additional power https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...andling-2.html
The guys from back in 2011 said the brakes fade in stock form. I agree. Stock pads and fluid aren't suitable for extended, hard driving.
I regularly compete with a guy in an e46 m3. He's a far better driver than I, yet he hasn't beat me. He's come reeeeally close. But not yet. My car is just faster.
If I could have the 3 to daily? Ooooh, yes I would take it! I ❤ them. Always have.
Your not in stock form hence your upgraded fluids ducting and what not to make up for the extra power. Which is still borderline granted your on tracks with more sweepers to allow for cool down.
Now if you said you felt like still had plenty of brakes with another 100whp we'd both know you'd be full of it to your eyeballs.

The most power I've run is about 430whp. Even that was too much really. No reason for me to do any more than that. I'd have to go full aero/race etc and I'm not ready yet.
You seem really focused on "sweepers". I don't think any of drive on an oval. :-P
In your first post, when you mention "stock brakes" I didn't realize you meant fluids, pads, etc too.
Now I understand and agree: no way a 100% stock setup would deal with track situations. Impossible. But really, only an idiot would even consider trying.
I keep checking in to make sure I don't miss the O.P.'s Autograph session, because his car, and epic driving are apparently coming to take the world by storm.
