If you read the map notes you can run the stage 1 with a catback exhaust. Go check them out www.cobbtuning.com

Some of the Cobb Pro tuners already have maps for most of those parts.....
Or could make a map easily for it.....

The simplest way to put it is an aftermarket intakes make your MAF sensor read differently. If the car is seeing a different MAF reading it will run the wrong fuel/timing values possibly hurting your motor.

Why do you think? It's not tuned for an aftermarket intake. An aftermarket intake leans out the AFR to begin with and then you add a map that has leaner fuel trims. You will experience dangerously lean conditions.

I have lots of units - no supply issues.

ALERT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone buying one of these units

PLEASE - Connect to the internet and install the Cobb Access Port Update Software - or I beleive you can do so from the supplied CD disc that came with your unit

DO a BETA (beta) update on the unit and update it to the most current specs

Thank you

(Big Al - doing a beta update now)

Well i can tell you for sure that the car gain HP, how much i dont know. The engines does seen to breath alot easier now, and yes the rev limit is been raised to 7.5 i didn't push any farther since i dont want to hit it.

I guess is not really what i was expecting but it is quicker. Maybe the car is just so smooth that is hard to tell. As of right now i will say the gains are so so, will have to find a stock evo and make a run see what happens, since i wont be hitting a dyno anytime soon.
I am not too down since the device does alot more, and i just got it. So im sure i have more to learn about it and more to gain from it.

Quick question, i was reading the manual and from the wording it looks like the software to street tune is not free??? It says i can upgrade to it? So if i get my AFR meter and decide to adjust the map i would have to buy this software???
Yup, got the same experience. Got mine installed today and did a quick run. Car feels good in normal city street driving. Got one quick 2nd gear run and yes, the rev limiter works, got there pretty quick. One nice feature is if you leave it plugged in you can set it to display a shift warning light, configurable to what limit you want. The bad part is the dongle and USB cable hangs pretty low for those of us with big feet. My car is stock except it has a high flow cat. On the COBB online site they only have the Race tune software for the Evo 8 /9 not the X.

Just FYI the stock rev limiter is 7599.

Current COBB stage 1 keeps the stock rev limiter.

Lowkey, yeah there's no way i would drive with it on for too long, i be afraid to snap the ODB connector out. Is pretty much right above the clutch pedal, lol.

If you have a local tuner that is a ProTuner then you can get your AP custom tuned to your mod level.

I have a full turbo back, with HFC. The parameters would be similar, but not the same.
