COBB AccessTUNER Pro for 2008 EVO X (merge)
Rob @ Cobb-
Can you have Tim look into the "Hang Throttle Issue" a lot of Evo X owners are experiencing? I have the Cobb AP on my car and have this issue as well. Also, I've noticed that when I let go of the throttle under part throttle, my wideband 02 sensor shows that the engine momentarily goes really rich (10:1) before it goes full lean and provides engine braking. It'd be nice if he could eliminate this.

The problem is that much of the port (and intake manifold walls) is/are wet with fuel when the engine is in normal operation - more so (more wetness) under heavy throttle and power production. Then when the throttle is closed, the airflow is cut off at the same time the manifold pressure is lowered. The wet fuel on the walls of the intake system will boil off due to the low pressure in the manifold and the result is a brief over-rich condition in the cylinder, then the exhaust system. After all the fuel on the port walls evaporates, then the intake system is only moving air [assuming fuel cut on overrun] so the exhaust shows full air, or lean.
There will be less of an effect if the actual throttle plate is closed slower, similar to the old dashpot functions in decades past but it will still be there. With an associated initial loss in engine braking.
Permantly Mounted Cobb?
Hey All,
So I am going to be getting a cobb soon and I am thinking about mounting it in my car and possibly using it as a boost gauge...seeing all its features. etc. My friend used to do this in his WRX and it was very cool to see. I was wondering if anyone does/did this and if so if you can post up some pics as to where you mounted it. Let me know and lets see the pics!.
Thanks.

i wouldn't permanently mount it. you would lose some key features like the valet parking and anti theft maps plus updating it would be a problem without a laptop. now if your talking about a permanent mount that doable. i believe there is a thread in the how to section.
Yea im talking about a permanent mount and wanted to see people's pics. I Want to be able to remove it when i leave the car, but also have it secure enough for when i take turns hard. Def dont want to leave a 650+ dollar piece of equip in the window. lol. So anyone have any pics of how they mounted it/ where?
Or you can just try buying a boost gauge. You can get a nice Defi unit for 175 bucks. The Subaru guys went on and on about this when the APv2 was released in December 2006 and they FINALLY let it go. There is no need to mount the device. Just accept the fact that once the vehicle is flashed the AP will become a 700 paper weight. You will only pull it out to "double check" boost if you are or think you're having issues.

I used velcro to mount mine. I only have it mounted when i use its data logging feature. Cobb is still in the process of making an update for our AP's so that the boost gauge can read higher than 18psi and untill then I dont use the boost gauge feature
