Breather tanks

Hey guys, ever used Breather Tanks on your cars? Talked to some friends that has them on their 240sx and what not... says it helps a lot. Would it do the same to our cars? Also, What's the difference between N-type and S-type...

Search for 'Oil Catch Cans' - same thing, different names. Basically the air is passed through these cans that contain steel wool, a mesh, or plates to bounce/siphon oil/water out of the air that would normally return to your engine/turbo and gunk it up. <--- description in a nutshell.

I've seen as i'm sure many people here have also, that they work quite well. My question is, why doesn't the car come with one ? or two?

For emissions, as well as hazardous materials. By burning it off, your car produces exceptable emissions still, however if people didn't empty their catch cans, they would overflow leaking oil/other garbage to atmosphere. If people did have catch cans to empty, it's even more hazardous materials being disposed, and something that might be an inconvenience to customers. Easy solution? Burn it up and save the trouble to customers.

Can you guys read? Did anybody bother to look at the link? These are nothing more than a coolant reservoir which our cars already have.

There is a big difference between coolant air separator and a coolant overflow reservoir. They are usually used in low flow type coolant systems, like the 2nd gen RX-7.

OK, but they sure as hell aren't catch cans. Are you saying with the setup on the evo that we have air in the cooling system?

No they aren't catch cans because they are meant to vent air out of the system. So it really doesn't catch anything because coolant freely passes in and out of it.

Not to the extent that cars like the RX-7s do. Our coolant temps don't run that high, 170-190F compared to 210+F like most cars. So it probably doesn't make a significant difference on a Evo X, unlike some other older cars.

What if you were to run higher set up... bigger turbo and getting more power. I'm pretty that will need cooling help.

In that case, a larger-capacity, higher-efficiency radiator would be what you would want.

CBRD makes a really nice one
