The real gains are stopping the loss of power due to heat soak. The dyno fan just cant replicate 60+ miles an hour wind being forced through your intercooler. Put your hand in front of a fan at any dyno shop. Now stick your hand out the window while driving down the highway. Just a bit of difference. The bigger the intercooler the more heat is removed from your intake charge. A good example of heat soak is seen in the 03-04 Cobra's. My 03 cobra with basic pulley set up and the crappy, tiny stock intercooler would lose up to 50 hp from dyno run 1 to dyno run 3. After installing a bigger intercooler I picked up 5 hp on the first run and only lost 15 hp by run 3.
