Evo 9 to Evo X. Any regrets?
The people who are freaking out about having to know which is better are insecure with their own decision and want other people to justify it for them. Like they both aren't fantastic cars or something, lol.
"The best is only the best until something better comes along". This is true in most cases, but there are examples out there in the automotive world where this is not the case with subsequent models of certain cars. For the record, I think the new Evo is better overall than the outgoing IX.

shameless bump of own thread. it has been 4 months since the last reply. there have been a few time attacks, 2 bolt on turbos released, early adopters that have dumped the X for something else (to include the X section's moderator - noise), suspension kits, some exciting claims in the engine management forum, etc.
maybe 4 more months of collective knowledge has something new to say about the X...

I regret selling my SRT-4 for the X .. how about that?
It's a great car, but not really "drag" racer friendly .. so keep your intentions in mind. Great for a comfortable quick daily or a road/auto-x car ..

Well it's not a drag racing monster due the 10% heavier weight (~300 lbs) which means you need 10% more HP to have similar potential. While the stock turbo spools nice and fast for great low to mid torque, it maxes out at 38lb/min flow above 6k RPM and fades boost to 18 PSI. Once that bottleneck is replaced I think the sky is the limit, but you are right that it is more of a Auto-X/Road Race monster with decent power to match. To me the change makes it a better daily driver street car but each car has it's own advantages.
For straight line performance if you are stuck with the stock turbo you are looking at mid 12's with the average bolt-ons where as a stock turbo 8/9 can do high 11's pretty easily with similar mod levels. When it comes to handling, while the 8/9 were excellent, the X stands out as having the potential to be even better. To each their own I say.

I would've made the switch if I knew I wasn't going to miss the power my IX was making at the time on pump 93 octane (326whp/317wtq @ 21psi).
I really like the styling of the new X's more so than my IX.

defenietly for $30K + you could have a lot better drag car.
Well the evo was never designed to be a drag car from the begin with ...
So i do understand your disappointment. I can imagine what you could do with $30K invested, to one $5k worth of Mustang
OMG the Evo 10 sucks so bad keep your nine look here for proof.
